We visited the Modern and the Kimball on a Sunday and happened into the Sunday brunch at the Modern. It's a wonderfully soothing space in which to eat and the menu for brunch made it a terrific way to take a break from the galleries - but also serve as one of the best meals I had in Fort Worth.

If you tend to eat out a lot, it is very hard to find a restaurant that is really different. It is also hard to find one that you would enjoy going back to again and again. Well let me recommend that you check out the Cafe' Modern in the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art. Not your typical museum restaurant that serves either a few sandwiches, or perhaps some pastry and coffee, this one offers a menu that is quite varied and the food is absolutely delicious. You can get a table that looks out over a soothing, picturesque landscape ... or choose a separate sitting area that serves some of the most interesting desserts and drinks. Of course, the museum itself is right there to add to the visual experience.

We took the grandkids on one visit. After touring the museum exhibits, they had ice cream creations and went outside to stroll around on the lawn for a while. Now they ask when they can go back. A colleague and I chose it for a lunch, because we wanted a place quiet enough that we didn't have to shout at each other while we talked over things of mutual interest. We had no trouble selecting something suitable for lunch, it was delicious, the service was excellent, and it was so relaxing that two hours passed before we even thought about looking at our watches. If you feel like you are having a "high pressure" day, this is a good place to de-compress.

Wanting someplace "cool", but different, to visit with some special friends, we did the Friday night evening meal at the Cafe' and an 8 o'clock movie at the Magnolia theatre there. What can I say? The food was certainly as good as that we have had at places like Riata's or Daddy Jack's, and I would say it even compared well with Del Frisco's. Service was good, but not great. However, it was quite adequate. We will of course be going back, because it was again a relaxing and very pleasant experience.

Folks rarely think of a museum restaurant when they are just dining out, but I would definitely recommend trying this one.

Went on Sat and trie the Branch Menu, "Modern Benefit" and Fritatta. Both were great. The breads were good too and server offer an additional bread, which was a nice touch.
