Owner description: City zoo that presents animal habitats as they exist in the world.
Reviewed November 3, 2018

Quite spacious & reasonable sized animal enclosures, but I have seen better. Penguinarium was a little disappointing having seen the one at Loro Parque in Tenerife. Kids enjoyed feeding the giraffes which was nice.
Surprised to see a 'Burger King' as main eatery....Really?

I was visiting family in Texas. Day was warm and sunny and they were promoting Boo at the Zoo, so we decided to go. Coming from an area that has one of the worst zoos in the United States (The Smithsonian Zoo in Washington DC which has few animals and MANY empty exhibits), it was nice to come to a zoo that is large, well laid out, with many animals. Even though the zoo was packed (ticket line was about an hour long), the place is so big, that seldom were you unable to get a good view of the animals. The habitat for the giraffes was especially nice. Yes, some readers commented on the condition of the lion and tiger habitats. These need attention sooner rather than later, but it does seem as though they are improving the zoo an exhibit at a time.

Not a great zoo but pleasant and worth a visit if time to spare. Good for families, plenty for kids to see and do. Best perhaps was the opportunity to feed the giraffes and also the toucans.

This is really a great zoo and I’ve been to many all over the world. It is not owned by the city but is privately funded. They are constantly adding new exhibits so there is new construction but it doesn’t impact the fun you will have. I always look forward to our visit every couple of years with my grandkids. It’s clean and easy to get around. We love the aviary where you can purchase seed sticks and feed the birds and feeding the giraffes is amazing. On this trip, we saw a baby flamingo and an egg being incubated by its momma. Love this zoo!
