Visiting the Kimbel is always a joy, the outstanding exhibit now until some time in March is world class you would be lucky to find all these Pucasos and Matises even at their home at The Art Institute in Chicago. Extremely well curated exhibition of course the lime light is on Picaso and Matise but fenomenal work from Miro and Dali and Brancusi and Kamdinsky and a very favorite of mine Chagall are in view
Please do not miss it
And while in the neighborhood have lunch at one if the best museum restaurants in the USA cross the street and eat at The Modern at the Ft Worth museum of Modern Art
Now on a very excellent exhibit but poorly publicized " Mexico Inside Out
A great example of the world class tradition of Mexican art now in the XXI century
Do not miss it in DFW or wherever it lands

The latest exhibit at the Kimbell ""The Age of Picasso and Matisse" is a worthwhile reason to visit or re-visit this fine excellent museum. Tuesday is half-price.
Another (free) reason to go is to see the permanent exhibits newly and wonderfully displayed in the just opened Renzo Piano Pavilion addition. This exudes a light and airy feeling. No stuffy museum air about it. Treat yourself to a delightful experience no matter your background or age.

This museum is free and quite small, but worth visiting. There are two rooms of art and the booklet gives a great explanation of what you're seeing. We didn't need much time there but it was worth the stop.

The buildings, gardens and fountains provide an encompassing space for a solid collection which is enhance by very impressive special exhibits (Matisse and Picasso from the Chicago Art Museum). The latest building by Piano with its straight lines stands in wonderful juxtaposition to the original museums rounded roofs.

My family (whom I was visiting) and I visited the day of the opening of the new Piano Pavillion--during which we attended a lovely opera performance of Three Little Pigs by a group of singers that does school performances. It completely held my 7-year old niece's attention....This is a gorgeous facility, that is flooded by natural light. The permanent collection is represented here by Asian and pre-Columbian art, mostly sculptures. The Pavillion is reached from the "older" building by walking between two pools with small waterfalls and a grassy area featuring several outdoor sculptures. The museum is not in Ft. Worth's central downtown, but it has plenty of parking and is a must visit to this really pleasant city.
