Free admission. A limited collection of beautiful old paintings, many by famous artists including Monet, Matisse, and El Greco.
Beside each painting is a helpful description of the work with information about the artist.

“Good Permanant and Temporary Collections”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Because of it's security and atmosphere control, the Kimball is often selected to host important temporary exhibits, so even if you've seen the permanent collection it's a good idea to keep up with the upcoming exhibits, which are world-class. Parking is free-- a big plus in this day and age and economy. Admission to the Museum’s permanent collection is free. There is a charge for special exhibits. Half-price exhibition admission on Tuesdays (all day) and on Fridays from 5–8 p.m.. . I often combine a visit to the museum with lunch there (Tuesdays–Thursdays and Saturdays, 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
Fridays and Sundays, noon–2 p.m.), or just tea and dessert (Beverages and Desserts
Tuesdays–Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, 2–4 p.m.
Fridays, 2–5:30 p.m.). Also, think about the museum as a neat place for dinner --Friday Evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 there is a light buffet of soup, salad, pasta, a veggie torte, wine etc. After dinner you can tour the galleries , and they often have live music in front of the courtyard.
So it's not JUST a museum -- think of it as a venue for a special lunch or dinner, a date, etc.

“Very nice collection”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

It may not be the Chicago Art Institute or the Metropolitan but having visited a lot of top art museum, this museum still impressed me. Specially since it is free! Check it out and I don't think you will be disappointed.

“2nd Visit”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

AS I also visited the MOMA, across the street , I decided to
revisit the Kimbell. I am never disappointed. This time I could compare some old Masters , in portraiture with the Freud exhibition across the street.
Also a great little secret is the fantastic Lunch Buffet at the Kimbell, real value for money and excellent in quality and
some of the friendliest people you will ever encounter.

“Marvelous small museum in magnificant building”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

Don't miss the gem of a museum. Many visiting Texas do not expect to find this quality in Ft. worth but that would be a really bad assumption. The permanent collection is well worth two or three hours. The famous selections of Renoir and Cezanne paintings are the highlights for me.

The building is a Phillip Johnson. Extraordinary use of natural light.

The museum's airy restaurant is terrific too--salads, soups, crusrt bread, top quality choices of tea and coffee. When I was last there they had a different homemade soup every day for months on end. No reservations needed. Friendly and unpretentious service--typical of Fort Worth overall.

The Kimball is walkable to the other three museums but the Kimball is the star. But check out the Amon Carter western art next doir. You will see terrific sculpture and paintings of the west.

For a real treat dive or walk to Curley's for ice cream after the museums. It is about six blocks away.
