This is actually a very small area with not much more than gift shops and restaurants. At certain times there apparently are cattle drives but I did not see this. There are some cute gift shops and lots of bars

A great experience and some nice shopping. The cattle goes out in the morning (10a?) and back in the afternoon (330?) and it's wonderful fun to see the cowboys herding them down the street from the sidewalk. Being that close to a Longhorn steer with their 6 foot plus wide horns is REALLY impressive!!

It was fun to see longhorn cattle up close. There were a lot of places to see, many folks in cowboy garb, big variety of shopping and eating spots (we chose Coopers BBQ). Next time I'm back we'll try to be there for the cattle drive down main street and stay for the rodeo. Fun piece of history!

The stockyards was a very nice area to stop for the afternoon and evening. Lots of great food--expect a long wait though! Interesting shops to look through. It was very busy with the weekend crowd and lots of traffic around the area. Make sure to take the trolley for only $3.50, that was the best way to get there and back. They also had longhorns and cowboys on horses out for the kids to take pictures with as well as other people in authentic dress walking around.
