This place is very interesting. There are loads of tours, museums (which are OK - depending on whether it is your thing or not), shops and food places. I spent a few hours here and I thought it was definitely worth the visit, I did miss loads though - I'd plan the whole day for Stockyards. Also a small steak cafe/diner has the best chocolate cake in the world! (Unfortunately I can't remember it's name but it is on the same road and side of the road as the information center, walk away from the train and past the traffic lights for around 5 - 6 meters. It looks like a cafe).

Well, it's a nice little part of town, and if you love cowboys and westerns, this is a place you should certainly explore. This time, we didn't take a tour and that was a mistake, you learn a lot more if you do (so please learn from our mistake :-)). The Cattle Drive is nice, but we were there in the off season and there were only six cows who were driven through the streets.

Not even an OK trip.

Tourist Trap to the MAX. Shops and restaurants galore. Shops are over priced on everything. Restaurants: Some are reasonable, some ridiculously priced.

2 THINGS TO SAVE YOUR MONEY ON!

They have a horse and buggy ride, stage coach ride and open buck board ride. STAY AWAY and KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKETS. Adults are $10.00. The ride takes you behind the Stock Yard buildings, nothing interesting to look at and no narration by the driver. Absolutely a waste of money.

Second place to keep your money in your pockets. The Grapevine Vintage Railroad Trinity River Ride. $10.00 for open air ride, $15.00 for air conditioned car. The most worthless train ride we have ever been on. Ride takes you down through some wooded area in Fort Worth, over the Trinity River twice. Then you backup the way you went down only to see the same scenery from before. There is NO Narration at all, virtually nothing to see. Bottled water is a Train Robbery also at $2.00 per bottle. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS TRIP.

IN RECAP: The stockyards are a huge tourist trap!

Those people that think it is excellent or good, just like to waste money.

There are a lot better attraction in the Dallas / Fort Worth area to see than this!

The Stockyards was the main reason we visited Forth Worth and we were not disappointed. There are cowboys, a twice daily cattle drive, saloon bars, dance halls, restaurants, shops for wannabe cowboys, historical. buildings, museums and lots of atmosphere. There is even a record store. What more do you need!

This is a well laid out tourist trap that doesn't feel like a trap. There are a ton of shops, bars and restaurants. We had a lot of fun. We saw the "cattle drive" which consisted of 10 longhorns walking a block down the middle of the street. Not worth a trip to see but if your in the area it's a must do. Make sense? We went to a Texas wine bar (all wines made on site) which was quaint, had lunch at Love Shack which was good but not the best (friendly server though), did the Cowboy Museum (rodeo cowboys and horse wagons only) and did a lot of shopping. This is a country girl's dream come true. I could see this as the perfect girl's weekend.
