Well, we got to Fort Worth Texas and were advised by the hotel staff to visit the stockyards as it was an interesting place.... Got a taxi there (3 miles from downtown) and well, there's nothing there but a few bars and restaurants and a few tat shops, it's simply one street and there's nothing to see.

There is the Cowboy hall of fame museum, but for a non-texan it really isn't that much fun looking at hundreds of videos of cowboys catching cattle, it gets boring after the first couple of views..... Even so, that was the best (and only) thing to see in the stockyards unless you want to buy some terrible tat souvenir like a blow up girlfriend or a cowboy boot style beer / shot glass!

A good place to visit for an hour or two. The bars are smoky so if you are a non smoker that could be annoying. The history is very interesting. The souvenir shops are typical cheap and cheesy but the galleries are worth seeing for the amazing western art.

Western shopping, restaurants, longhorns. Don't forget the kettle drive! Great to see all these animals walking down the street!

Get close and up front to an actual cattle drive. Went to the cattle auction ~ what exitement. Many restuarants with entertainment ~ real western atmosphere

Loved roaming around this area. The twice-daily "cattle drive" was very cheesy, but the area had great historical markers and so worth an afternoon.
