Stopped at Fort Stockton TX on way to Burbank. Decided to eat dinner Wed night based on TA reviews.
Restaurant only open Tuesday to Friday for certain hours.
It opens for dinner at 5 pm. Came initially at 4 left and did tour of Riggs Museum and returned at 4:50. At that time 18 individuals were waiting for them to open.
Building is nothing fancy. Accomodates only about 40 customers.
Food was great, sampled 4 different items on combo plate. Pricing was very reasonable. I talked to the "waitress" to understand why this has 150 TA reviews from all different types of people. I saw everyone there had a smartphone and probably came after reading reviews that they were number one rated restaurant of over 60 I think.
Waitress at dinner told me she was the owner. She cooks lunch then cooks all food for dinner, takes shower, that waitresses dinner. She told me it was how she could control quality on all meals. Besides that she loves to cook . She of course does all the back office accounting and ordering. No wonder she "only " works 4 days a week.
Looking around room, there were young and old. Appeared everyone loved the food and service.
If you can make lunch or dinner Tuesday through Friday, highly recommend you give this place a try. It is unusual to find such a gem in a somewhat remote area. She also had displayed several "trip advisor certificates of appreciation and awards". I now know why.
