La Quinta Inn Fort Stockton
Ranked #14 of 17 Hotels in Fort Stockton
Reviewed March 20, 2006

I stayed here one night during a trip to the Texas/Mexico border. For the most part, the rooms were clean. When I checked the sheets for cleaniness, I found human hair scattered which lead me to believe the sheets were not changed in between guests. The beds were very uncomfortable to sleep in and even with 2 pillows, trying to get to sleep was very difficult. The breakfast is actually pretty extensive: cereals, bananas, apples, oranges, milk, coffee, juices, mini muffins, waffles that you pour and make your own, frozen egg and sausages patties for you to microwave and eat with a biscuit.

There are not many options as far as places to stay in Fort Stockton, but there is a newly built Best Western that probably would have been much better than the La Quinta.

Granted, I am accustomed to staying at 4 or 5 star hotels, but being that we were in a very small town and that we were there to attend a funeral, I had other things to worry about and tried to keep an open mind and deal with the cards I had been dealt. Unfortunately, there were only a steady stream of negatives which will ensure that we will NEVER stay at a La Quinta Inn EVER again.

Some of the low-lights:
-THE most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in with 3 of the sorriest pillows you will ever see. They were so flat and lumpy they were virtually non-existent.
-The light in the bathroom did not work during our entire stay (3 tortured days). At first we thought it was a burned out light bulb...which was replaced. It actually worked the first time we flipped the switch, but the next time, it ceased to work. After mentioning this to the front desk, they promised they would send someone over (which never happened). Eventually, we just gave up and got used to showering, etc. in the dark.
- The stopper in the tub would not stay open so when showering you had to stand in shin deep water.
- Although we had a credit card on file, we were unable to purchase a movie. When we called to the front desk, we were told that we needed to provide a credit card in person. The next morning when I went to give it to them again, the manager said they already had it on file and there shouldn't have been a problem. Too bad they couldn't have told us that the night before when I called.
- "Continental Breakfast" (I use the term loosely, from the feedback of other family members also staying at this dump) was from 6-9am so we missed it every day (again, I'm told it was a blessing in disguise).
- Front-desk staff unhelpful and totally clueless.
- Housekeeping never came on the first day. I had to walk to the office to get fresh towels which were no bigger than the hand towels I have at home. Key-word to staff: DOWNEY! Those towels were about as absorbent and soft as a loofah!
- Lastly, although we had booked for 3 nights, EVERY night when we came back to our room our key had been disabled and we had to trek all the way to the office to have it re-activated.

User rating: negative 2 star hotel. Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

Stayed here overnight on 6/1/2005. Room was pretty clean except for the carpets. I noticed my daughter's feet were dirty from walking on it (perhaps it is because they allow pets??). Breakfast was ok. Teflon was totally scraped off the waffle iron and waffles were impossible to make -no matter how much spray you used. (Management needs to replace.). All-in-all, it was an ok stay since I was just staying there for the night on a long road trip.
