The Chicken here is better than the beef. Austin's has a no frills and a no service point of view but even then - the food is only OK. There are no places to sit inside, so you sit in the elements and in the heat. If you want BBQ stop at Hinze's in Sealy. Simply not a great place. Sorry!

We ate at five BBQ places between Houston and Sweet Home, and Austin’s was by far the best. The sliced brisket was moist and not overly salty, and the chopped brisket had just enough delicious sauce to soak into the bread. Unlike the other BBQ we had in this area, which was made in a pressure cooker and flavored with ‘artificial smoke,’ Austin’s BBQ is made the old-fashioned way—in a smoker with real wood. In this case, it’s pecan wood. The mustard potato salad was heavenly; it was perfectly balanced so that you didn’t taste just the mustard or just the pickles. We were the first customers of the day and interrupted the staff setting up the kitchen, yet we were treated with genuine Texas hospitality. I ate the other half of my brisket sandwich on the way home in a taxi seven hours after we bought it, and it was just as delicious as the first time I bit into it. Austin’s has made the Texas Monthly Magazine’s “best BBQ in Texas” list three times and deservedly so.
