“Get there early!”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

We always get there when it opens so we don't have to wait in line. Call the day before to make sure it's not closed due to high bacteria counts. Everyone should visit this place once, but I've been three times and will go again. Beautiful!

“Amazing!”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

Definitely worth the trip. A beautiful 30 minute drive from downtown Austin. Make sure you have $15.00 for the entrance fee and it is cash or local check only. They only allow 75 cars in at a time, we waited an hour to get it but it was so worth it. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Austin.

“One of the best places you will ever swim”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

When you swim out to the middle and look up at the tiny water droplets falling onto your face from the underside of a crescent cliff, you will understand why everyone rates this place so high. I'm sure some of the lower ratings stem from the waits that can be incurred, but that's just a necessary requirement to preserve a place like this. I'm actually appreciative for the pool's maximum occupancy rule, I can't imagine what this place would be like with the crowd that would descend upon it unchecked.

Do yourself a favor and go early, even when there is a line, it's usually not as long as you think once you get through it, and is always worth it.

“Natural Swimming Pool and Nature Preserve”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

I have gone to Hamilton Pool for many, many years (decades) and I always love it. I was blessed to go after a big rain in late 2013. It was amazing and so refreshing to see how much rainwater was running down to and spilling over the edge into the pool. Beautiful hot pink American Beauty Berry and other amazing Native Texas plants were in bloom as well as the lovely maidenhair ferns growing in the moist areas surrounding the pool. It is an amazingly beautiful natural area for naturalists to enjoy as well as a place to hike, swim and perhaps take photos. We are blessed to have so many natural areas and natural swimming holes and pools in the Austin Texas, Central Texas area to swim in non-chlorinated water.

There is a beautiful, rocky trail going down to the pool that is not ADA Accessible. For the peak, Summer Season, just be aware that only so many people are allowed in at a time, no dogs are allowed so leave your pet at home and if there has been no rain for quite some time, it may be closed due to high bacteria counts, etc.

Reviewed July 6, 2014

we had to return because it was too full on Saturday to the point they weren't even letting any more cars in the waiting line. they can only allow 75 cars in at one time. we decided to try again after seeing the breath taking photos in the Austin guide book. This is a you have to see it to believe it trip. just know you have to walk 1/2 mile to the pool not long but just be prepare.
