This is the second time we've visited here. A bit of a drive from San Antonio, not terribly far from Austin. This small preserve offers a nice escape from the city. Swimming is an option in the natural pool here but as there was a hard rain a couple days before our visit, swimming was ill-advised by the park ranger this day (large amount of run off increased the bacteria levels). There isn't much a lot of room for many cars or people so the park rangers limit the cars allowed in. Cash or local check only for a $10/car fee. The pool itself is a short walk down some rocky terrain so wear good shoes. Bathrooms only available near parking.

Wow, it's beautiful, the pool/waterfalls are breathtaking! Look around, lots of birds and animals to see. (My husband and I spotted a baby owl clinging to the side of a tree - adorable!)

$10 per car load, you will want to be changed before getting here as there are one small bathroom to change. You will need to hike on the trial about a half mile to get to the spring. Very scenic and worth it. Water is cold and not much of a fall due to the drough at this time. In my opinion its still a GEM, must see!

Remember to get there before 11am on the weekends, as the small parking lot fills up fast! Beautiful 1/4 mile trail to the pool itself.

Nice destination in the Texas Hill Country. It's an oasis in the middle of dry country. The hike down is very easy. Also do the hike to the river, which is 0.6 miles. Even young kids can manage it.
