We were just passing thru town and looking for a Mexican restaurant. We stumbled on El Matador. What a find. We ordered the Carna Asada. The best I've had in a long time. Service was impeccable. The price was very affordable. We had 3 adults and 2 kids all the fixins and then some for less than $50. We will definatley make a trip to do this again.

Another place that looks sketchy on the outside, but once you open those doors, it's like going through to Narnija. Best Tex-Mex in town, without a doubt

This was a popular restaurant in years past, but has declined steadily over the years. The food is very bland, and the restaurant looks dingy and dirty.

My family has eaten at El Matador in Denton for two decades. It was our kids' favorite, with attentive servers who remembered my daughter's "the usual." I consistently found the food to be fast, consistent, and tasty. We returned after a long time away the other night and were shocked to find the food close to tasteless, some dishes served nearly cold, and presented with what seemed to be some industrialized salsa instead of their once-excellent homemade. The beef on the taco and chalupa was nearly flavorless, everything was smothered with melted cheese, and my wife was very disappointed with her stuffed pepper. Service was inattentive and our order was at least partly wrong when first brought out. What a disappointment, the loss of a long-time family favorite.

Great choice for a casual meal. The wait is typically never long and the service is always incredibly fast. I go to El Matador for its consistency in the quality of the food (always good tasting) and service. The prices are very reasonable.
