Great getaway for us! Peaceful and charming with a tasty breakfast served in our room. Nearby is Denton square with lots of great places to eat, listen to music, have a nightcap. Having our own little cottage was unique. Highly recommend staying there!

My husband and I frequent B&Bs approx 6-8 times a year ranging from cabins, private homes and group settings. Old Irish has risen to #1 for several reasons. Location is perfect - short, pleasant drive then we end up in a rural setting that is interesing, private and relaxing. The livestock (ducks, geese, llamas, alpacas and dogs) are delightful. The private cabin has all you need -- great, comfortable bed, good lighting, micro/refrig, table for eating, tv/dvd, bath, robes, great scenery of the pond and a private porch. As far as the service, Jim and Reta meet your every need including suggesting and making reservations at excellent restaurants and even providing transportation. We enjoyed every minute leaving relax, refreshed and ready to return.

Room Tip: All rooms are equal. We like being on the end as it even added to our privacy.

We spent our wedding night here--found this place on an Internet search--and could not possibly have made a better choice! The cozy, clean private cabins, the excellent food, our gracious hosts and all the wonderful animals combined to make the perfect experience...all for no more than we would have spent for a generic hotel room in Dallas! The location was easy to find, but had a very peaceful country atmosphere--we will DEFINITELY be back!

Room Tip: All the cabins are private, and one of them is wheelchair accessible--there are no bad choices here!

My wife and I stayed at the Old Irish B&B for two nights to celebrate our second anniversary. I called to set up a reservation directly and Jim was very helpful and talked me through the options they had available, the rooms, and additional amenities they have there.

We arrived and check-in was easy. Their lodging is very private, with three small cabin-rooms by a beautiful pond. This was GREAT as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the sounds of the farm on our own terms.

Having said that, Jim was always just a phone call away and really bent over backwards to make sure we had a wonderful stay. There was even a hail/high wind concern the first night, and Jim found a place in a barn to put our car for the night.

We took our breakfast in bed both mornings, and Jim showed up right on time with wonderful, delicious breakfast dishes each morning. We were expecting simple bacon & eggs, but instead we got fruit medleys, hash brown casseroles, tasty egg dishes and juice of a type I've forgotten but was very good.

The alpaca ranch itself was a wonderful environment. Jim took us and the other guests around our first morning to feed the alpacas along with the ducks, geese, and catfish. It was really fun getting to hold, pet, and feed the alpacas.

The beds were very, very comfortable. My wife and I slept great both nights. The rooms were on the small side, but had more than enough room for two people. Our room felt very new and very clean, though I believe it was not their newest room.

The ranch itself is about 5 minutes east of Denton, so it was easy to go into town for dinner.

Neither my wife nor I had been to a B&B before and were nervous about what to expect and how much it would cost. This anniversary getaway turned out to be a great experience for a great value.

I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Grey Stoke Cottage, and would recommend it.
