“Nice and comfortable hotel, bad restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2010

The hotel is very nice, comfortable, clean, large rooms, nice bathroom, good location. The only complaint is about its restaurant (2nd floor), even the food is OK, its manager is rude and he makes you wait 30 to 40 minutes to get a table, even if it is not crowded at all.

Stayed at 20th floor, which is for the Executive club rooms. The room is huge with very nice interior. The decor is also very trendy. I like the seat by the window. The heavenly bed is cozy to ensure my sleep.

Dear Coolden,

We are so excited to hear you enjoyed the new window seats-the old balconies were converted to the designer fabric appointed seats in our 2009 renovation. We also were able to expand the rooms, so they are some fo the largest in DFW at over 400 square feet each. It sounds like you were able to refresh and rejuvinate here, which is always one of our goals with our guests.

Sincerely,
Andrea S.

Staying in the Galleria enables all ages to attend our yearly shopping trip! The Westin is very nice and very affordable. We took a shopping trip to Dallas 7 years ago after Christmas and have continued every year since!

Dear Jendubconway,

Thanks so much for your fabulously fresh review of our hotel. A girls' weekend trip is always a must around the holiday season. For an added value, check out our newly created shopping packages for the weekends starting November 12-they include gift certificates to Macy's, Saks and/or Gucci. We are almost sold out on some of the weekends, but would love to see you in the next few months!

Sincerely,
Andrea S.

Staff is very accomodating and helpful. Our room was small but modern. Had to use the lap top at the desk which I hate. Our room did not have a tub but I did not check if some rooms do have tubs. The bathroom was not clean. Do not book a room here if you are doing so for the Galeria mall since it is pretty average shopping. There are restaurants worth going to in walking distance which is nice since cabs are a problem in this area.

Hello Bettyillinois,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We do have tubs in most of our rooms with (2) Queen Beds. And we do have Wireless WiFi in the room for your convenience to utilize an equipped laptop throughout the room. I am sorry this did not work for you, but am happy to explore why that might be should you email me at andrea.sorensen@westin.com. I would also like to hear more about the cab situation, as we have a cab stand only 500 feet from our entrance. Please feel free to reach out to me, as we want to ensure we look into these issues that may have prevented us from exceeding your expectations.

Sincerely,
Andrea S.

Nice location attached to an upscale mall. Grand Lux Cafe and Oceanaire are next door for dining options and the food court in the mall has a Five Guys Burgers, a Potbelly and other decent options. Hotel is clean. Good workout room and a nice pool for an inner city hotel. Didn't visit the executive lounge but Platinum guests do have access to it. Easy freeway access as well.

Thanks again,

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2010

We spent three nights at the Westin Galleria with our two young children and had a wonderful stay. Our room was standard with two double beds but was recently renovated and beautiful. The windows were spectacular and were nearly floor to ceiling. Our kids loved sitting, reading and drawing on the built in bench with cushions by the window. Nice LG Flat screen and typical lovely Westin beds/bedding. Our bathroom did not have one of the newly renovated full-size showers with frameless glass door, but rather a standard tub-shower combo. Because our kids take baths, this did not matter. Maid service, turn-down requests, bellman requests were all prompt. We had access to the spectacular concierge lounge on the 21st floor: great continental breakfast with smoked salmon and Starbucks and nice evening appetizer presentations (two hot foods such as eggrolls, chicken fingers, cheese selection and beer/wine). The women who worked in the 21st floor lounge were exceptionally helpful and gracious and especially kind to our children. Sometimes it's not worth upgrading to a club level but here it was definitely worth the price. The gym was exceptional with all top-of-the line Lifecycle Fitness equipment and machines. The connection to the Galleria mall was perfect for our kids and keeping them occupied with diversions to the ice rink, shopping, etc. The few issues we had were as follows: (1) the $10 charge for WIFI per day was absurd at a hotel of this caliber. Is Westin really making that much money on this charge to leave customers feeling nickel and dimed on what is an essential service to the modern traveler? Especially for SPG members or those paying extra for club level access, it's time to bag this silly incidental. (2) the pool area was lovely with great cabanas and nice fluffy towels. However, as echoed by previous comments, the water was unheated and nearly unswimmable. A little heating would go a long way. One other minor point: I had a great meal at the Second Floor restaurant but the service during the day was mediocre: it took almost an hour to get a sandwich and a bowl of soup. All told, these are minor issues (other than WIFI) compared to the positive aspects of this hotel. A strong recommend.

Hello Mickshrimpton,

We truly enjoyed reading such a pointed and generous review-thank you. We especially enjoy reading how we could have exceeded your expectations. We did notice that you dined in the Second Floor Bistro, and wanted to make sure you were aware that WiFi is indeed complimentary in that restaurant.

Thanks again, and we look forward to your family joining us in the warmer, heated pool on your next visit.

Sincerely,

Andrea S.

Stayed at this property for a week in late August, 2010 while visiting a client in the Addison area. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel and its service. As one would expect it is stylish and clean. The service was very good. The room, bed, and amenities were high quality. The location is convenient to Addison and attached to a great mall - as the name implies. Only one word of warning, services at this hotel are pricey. Valet is $24 / night. My room service for an evening surpassed $100. This is not surprising given the high end nature of the hotel, but something to keep in mind.

Thank you so much for the review and the wonderful comments. We are so pleased that you were able to reach your work potential while staying with us. We are sorry we did not make you aware of the complimentary parking offered throughout the Galleria Complex. For your next visit, feel free to ask the front valet for directions to the garages on property. And let us know when you are coming; we would love to meet you.
