I have learned a valuable lesson: the check mark for airport shuttle was completely useless to us here. We spent $40 on roundtrip cab service, after booking this place specifically because it has a shuttle. I've never experienced such limited hours (7am-7pm).
Pleasant staff, clean and roomy room but the shuttle thing....thank you, Wyndham, for teaching me this valuable and expensive lesson...check those shuttle hours :(.
Overall average, but the price was very good. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly. The couches need some dusting or cleaning, i couldn't stop sneezing once entering the room and sitting on the couch.
Most spacious 2 bedroom hotel unit that we have ever stayed in. It was a pleasant surprise to find 2 bathrooms and 2 living areas in addition to the 2 bedrooms. It was perfect for 3 adults. We were there for medical school interviews but this would also be perfect for an extended stay while a loved one was hospitalized in the med. center.
I was booked this property for two weeks and at first I thought it was going to be total dive. The reviews were far too ethusiastic and formulaic- reading like someone was writing their own review. Needless to day, I was so suspicious. What I found was really very good. I was floored by the rooms like an apartment, with a walk-in closet and sofa, full kitchen and comfortable bed. The free breakfast every morning has eggs, biscuits, coffee, juices, cereals and a do-it-yourself waffle maker. Sometimes they have (Hey!) Activia yogurts. The staff went above and beyond those two weeks with gentle service and attention. Some of the other guests tend to be odd people frankly but the staff is absolutely first class in their demeanor. I get that the apartment like complex can appear a little dicey.
The distance to places is the toughest sell if you do not have a car. The 526 DART bus picks up right in front of the hotel and takes you to the Inwood/Love DART light rail station which takes you into the downtown or any other area which is central to conventions or business. Hawthorn Suites has a shuttle on weekdays to the the light rail station if you ask them with about an hour of notice. This was indispensable to me.
Here is the list of the good and the bad:
*Spacious rooms with televisions.
*Breakfast every morning
* Social hour four days a week means a hot dog or spaghetti-
* Pool although I never used it
*The front desk is simply wonderful- John is very professional and competant, better than in most four -five star hotels. Elias is a great manager. Frankie helped drive me to the light rail. Stevie is so kind and helpful. The breakfast lady ( I know bad) was so attentive to the food and so quiet. Veronica is sympathetic and helpful. I could go on......
* the AC and the cable helped occupy me.
* the room was so clean
* the bed and pillows.
* one lonely pc in the lobby was usually monopolized but at leas there was osme wifi around though I used my own.
* Location is kinda lonely.
* the apartment complex feel can seem sketchy but it really is not.
* some of the people seemed rowdy in the lot but other than once, I really appreciated the quiet.
* housekeeping seemed off. I had to ask for it after a few days of neglect. Still, when I asked for more
towels, I got it.
If I was to return to Dallas for an extended stint, despite the downside of feeling like I am stuck without a car, I would seriously consider staying here because it is an incredible value and the service, from everyone on the staff. I was able to get around as long as I timed my needs. What can I say, the breakfast and luxurious feeling apartment is reason enough.
