My family (wife and two kids) had a great time at the hotel. The front desk staff (Gene) was very helpful. We stayed in the South Tower, which is apparently recommended due to recent updates. Our wasn't working when we first got there and mantainence staff (Sterling?) came up to say they had been working on it. When i asked him about how to unlock the bathroom doors in case my child accidently locked the door, he offered to put tape on the door to keep it from locking. We didn't have any problems with the valet, which some people have previously posted that it was a delay getting their car ($25 a day).

Overall a great experience and would recommend hotel to anyone wanting to stay in downtown Dallas area.

Room Tip: Stay in the South Tower

I reviewed the Fairmont last fall and wasn't that impressed. Having visited again recently and stayed on the same floor I can report a definite improvement in room quality and repair.

Still charging $7 for a bottle of water in the room and they could do with more seats in the bar area - too much of the lobby is wasted space TBH. Tip - if you have a problem don't ask the Front Desk - call customer services from your room - they are very efficient and fast.

The Pyramid restaurant was a very pleasant surprise - modern food, well executed - as good as anything outside the hotel - we ate their two nights for preference (not normal).

Breakfast staff very friendly - opinions still totally polarized about Mr Bennett - half the group thought he is wonderful and the rest of us feel he is the Ja-Ja Binks of the hotel business

Stayed here for a conference, it meets all expectations for a five-star hotel. Everything was clean, room was cozy, bed was comfortable. There is a swimming pool. Not sure if the hotel provides complimentary breakfast, as ours was at the conference.

I did use the concierge's services on my last stay, as I was expecting several items delivered, and everything was brought to my room.

Overall a pleasant experience, although Dallas - despite being a pretty modern city - is rather boring with not much to do or see.

I've stayed in a hundred places like this--nothing really to complain about, but nothing that stands out, either. The room was of average size, with comfortable enough furnishings. I don't understand why many hotels are configured so that you can't watch TV from a decent chair---you have to sit in bed and watch (uncomfortable), or pull up the desk chair at an uncomfortable angle or too close to the TV. The Fairmont was one of these places.

No microwave, the frig had a lock on it. No free internet access or wi-fi (you could pay about $13 a day for the former). At over $250/night, you'd think that there would be more amenities. I've been in "developing" countries where reliable wi-fi was free in the hotels; you mean to say that we can't do that in the US?

I didn't have much contact with the staff, but from what I could tell they were pleasant and efficient.

Given your feedback, I would recommend joining the Fairmont President’s Club, which offers members free Wi-Fi access and is completely free. The program also allows guests to indicate specific travel preferences for future stays at Fairmont properties. Also, I would like to note that guest room mini-bars are accessible via a key that is placed in each room. Thank you again for your comments. We recently stayed at The Fairmont for our honeymoon. Our room on the South tower had a great view. The bathroom was smaller than expected and the toilet paper holder was on a very weird spot. The robes could have been softer, they were on the rough side. The mini bar was well stocked and the room service menu was informative but as expected the prices were on the high side.We parked at one of the many public parkings available around the block which was cheaper than their convenient valet service. The hotel is at a very centric location so it is from walking distance of many attractions.Little interaction with staff and didnt get to meet Tony Bennett.

We rented a suit with a separate bedroom and a pull out bed. The latter was a mistake. The springs were broken and the bed was extremly uncomforable. The hotel did provide two cots to replace the pull out bed, so that heled. But overall the hotel has seen better days. The furniture in the room was dated and in need of being refinisned. Similarly, the seating in the bar was just as bad as the pull out bed. The springs in the bench/sofa seating were shot and the tables with the glass tops showed more than a small amount of dirt under the glass. The restaurant was good and overall the food was good but this hotel needs refurbishing despearate if it wants to continue to attract customers willing to pay these prices. It promished a lot but it let us down.

Room Tip: If more than two people are going to share the suit, book two rooms instead. You will be more comf...
