I am accustomed to the Hyatt Regency brand applying to a moderately upscale hotel. This one, however, was a basic concrete block with the ambiance of a well-maintained Econo Lodge. Entirely surrounded by the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, it features breathtaking views of three parking structures. There is noplace to walk other than these structures. Clean and well-staffed, it is the perfect hotel to stay in before an early flight or after a late one. And it is ideal for anyone who is coming to Dallas and wants to avoid seeing Dallas.

When I walked into the Lobby and saw that there was a convention here I shook my head. Who has a convention at an airport hotel? But after one night at the DFW Hyatt I am sold that this is as good as most downtown hotels from other brands.

There are several restaurants, incredibly friendly and efficient front desk staff, a nice, large room with all of the amenities, good wi-fi service, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. But my only issue was the HVAC system, which, even after being “fixed” by maintenance was still problematic.

My room had 2 queen beds and still had ample room for walking around. The desk and its chair were comfortable and the TV swirled so I could work on my computer at the desk and still watch. There are three pillows on each bed. The shampoo, conditioner and soap are already in the shower so look there before calling down to housekeeping.

My issue with the HVAC was it could not achieve the desired temperature with an early freeze in Dallas. I called maintenance and they set someone to fix it. She assured me it was fixed, left the thermostat set at 78 and told me to find the temperature I liked and then re-set the thermostat. The room never went above 71.4. Not cold but still in need of fixing.

I went to the lobby bar for a quick dinner, a chicken quesadilla and a cheeseburger with fries. The quesadilla was really a soft taco they ran through a Panini press. The avocado was under-ripe and the chicken had that jelly-like texture and there was loads of melted cheese. I would not recommend. The burger was good but mine had a wide variation in the salt. One bite had none and then the next my head snapped back. The French fries were basic frozen in 25 pound bags and fried when ordered. The server was excellent and friendly. Hey it’s a lobby bar at an airport hotel, better than I expected, but not great.

There is also a coffee maker in the room. Unfortunately housekeeping only left de-caf. I went downstairs and the front clerk gave me a coupon for a large coffee at Starbucks. No THAT is customer focus. There are also two airline check-in boarding pass computers in the lobby, great idea, plus the shuttle to the airport runs every 20 minutes.

For an airport hotel this is a great place to stay if you have an early flight and do not want to fight traffic from downtown. I recommend.

I enjoyed staying at this property. The front desk workers were very nice. Typically, I book with Hotwire and sometimes that changes the reaction of the front desk workers. I really enjoyed this hotel. My husband and I stayed here to relax after we came back from Cancun and I must say I relaxed very well. You can not hear the airplanes. The shuttle service is very fast and runs like clock-work.

The room was fantastic, didn't hear any airplanes, service was great, etc etc

But you should really only stay here if you are on airport business, it is complicated to get to and in and out of. I stayed here for an overnight before a morning flight.

The shower was gorgeous but didn't have the water pressure to suit.

We were here for a conference and stayed for 2 nights. We had a great room with a airport view. The Grand might look nicer but nothing wrong with this hotel. Rooms are renovated and the Bar makes great pizzas.

I had originally booked a room for $90/nt which I thought was a great value. We called the hotel to inquire about parking since we would be gone for a full week. They told us about their Park and Stay rate. For $160, you get the room for the night and a week of parking in Terminal C. What a bargain! I don't think we could have parked in the Express lot for that rate. We weren't in our room long as we arrived late and departed early, but it was very nice.

Shuttles to the terminals depart every 20 min. Upon our arrival back at the airport, a shuttle arrived in about 10 min to take us back to the hotel (our car) and we were greeted by a friendly driver and cold bottles of water.

Traveling from Reno, NV, to Houston, TX, via DFW Airport was quite the adventure: plane in Reno needed repair before take-off; arriving late at DFW, therefore missing our connecting flight; placed onto a flight (4 hours later at 10:45 p.m.) out of DFW to Houston which ended up being canceled due to "weather," even though we could hear and see other planes taking off; being told American Airlines would, however, provide cots and blankets for those stranded. After re-booking our flight to Houston for the next afternoon we took the airport Skylink to the Grand Hyatt. Their price for a double queen room was almost $200; we asked for any kind of discount, but there wasn't any. So, we took a shuttle to the Hyatt Regency DFW (on airport property but close to a different terminal). What a welcome we received there! Unbelievable. We were given a discount for being stranded on top of a AAA discount, a total of $50 less than the Grand Hyatt, and we were able to have a king room. Tom, the man checking us in, was a breath of fresh air after a very trying day. The hotel was clean, as was our room, and the room was very comfortable. Tom had asked if we wanted a late check-out (2 p.m.) the next day, since our new flight wasn't until 4:00, which we were very happy to take. We were able to have a good night's rest in very quiet, comfortable surroundings.
I would recommend staying at this hotel for anyone who is stranded at DFW Airport.
