We went to the May dragon for a team lunch. I liked their ambience a lot. Each party seemed to have their own space to sit in without getting disturbed by others. I ordered a Shirley Temple which was really good. Their hot and sour soup and free appetizer were good. I tried their schezuan chicken and fried rice. Both of them were really good as well. On the whole a pleasant experience.

A very unfortunate evening that could have been avoided with a few simple words when asking if we could make a reservation..."so sorry, we are fully booked." Instead, we endured a 35 minute wait to get seated, a 20 minute wait to get water (our one and only glass of the night) and another 20 minute wait to order our food. When we finally received our food (another 25 minutes), sadly it was so-so (we've been before and it is generally better). Obviously being one of only a small number of restaurants open on Christmas explains being unusually busy BUT the experience was so bad, many of the people waiting with us in the crowded bar by the door ended up leaving to go somewhere else. Our one server was trying his best and it was not his fault things took so long. The part that was frustrating was the lack of planning or thought put to staffing. Had the food been outstanding, I might have overlooked the challenge brought on being open on Christmas but the overall poor experience and little concern displayed towards the customers leads me to write this poor review.

Restaurant ambiance was great and even live piano music was pleasant. Food was good and was as ordered But there were things as the service that was lacking. Minor though they are, those detracted from our experience.
No water on the table or offered after we ordered our drinks. The fried crisps were on the table but with out the dipping sauces, we had to ask for those.
The waiter was friendly but didn't come back to check on our table during the meal to refresh drinks, we had to ask a passing waitor to find our waitor to get that. And it was a Very slow night.
Overall the food is what we would go back for. We hope it was just an off night for our waitor.

May Dragon
4868 Belt Line Rd.
Dallas, Texas 75254

Menu web site - http://www.dallasmaydragon.com/

Driving along the street this day at noon we decided lunch was in order. The holiday season and its associated foods was wearing thin, all of us were discussing a different meal when the focus turned to Chinese. May Dragon offers a varied menu. While my wife & I both enjoy Hot & Sour Soup she enjoys General Tsao's Chicken and I, Mongolian Beef for an entree. Various presentations of rice either fried, brown or white is always acceptable to both of us. Overall, the food was served hot and the quality was good. In as much as this was a mid-day meal and several more hours of shopping were ahead of us our libations were limited to water.

Service was adequate. We were shown to our table and informed our waitress would be with us shortly. While waiting our table was supplied with water, sauces and dipping noodles. Our waitress was very polite and helpful- our orders were noted and taken to the kitchen. Perhaps it was the noon time and their lunch crowd never materialized but this patron's observation was that service was not as sparkling as it might possibly have been.

The ambiance was wanting- the entrance seemed to be the only source of light and it was filtered through room dividers made to look like older, Chinese screen room dividers.
At best the mood was somewhat somber. The quality of food far surpassed the mood! If one chooses a romantic first date May Dragon might just work but for a spontaneous family outing this may not be the first choice.

Perhaps fewer screen dividers and more light would help the atmosphere. The wait staff might find a need for more frequent table visits are in order. Adding more light and increased table presence would enhance the already good food.

My wife and I purchased a Groupon for May Dragon. We had never heard of it before so we did not know what to expect. My wife ordered the sesame chicken and I had the orange beef. The sesame chicken was great and that was the best orange beef I have ever had. The service was what you would expect in a four star restaurant and the price was great. It was $10-15 per entree. The atmosphere was awesome.
