City Cafe was well-known to the fickle Dallas dining scene from its inception through the nineties. I don't know exactly when it fell off the collective radar, but the comment I hear most is, "are they still around?" We rediscovered City Cafe last December when The Adolphus suspended its famous holiday tea. City Cafe came to the rescue with its delicious, elegant tea--which impressed us so much that we booked a table for New Year's Eve. A friendship with the maître d’, Karim Alaoui, was born that evening. We are now regular guests and are delighted that our friends are rediscovering this Dallas treasure. Of significance, the decibel level is such that conversation is possible. This place has everything!
