In a town where the hype sometimes actually matches the reality - we had big hopes for a great evening. Arriving a bit early we we were shepherded to a waiting booth on a busy weekend night which gave us commanding view of the bustling scene. Deliciously made cocktails started our journey. Waiter was quirky and experienced but also came across as a bit flippant and inappropriately familiar. Much touted lobster shooters could frankly have been anything encased in chewy dough vs house specialty. Filet cooked well but not exceptional flavor. Sides and greens extremely salty and in the case of my dining partner - not edible. Waiter presented desert but lost interest when we opted to not order and finish wine. Ambiance overall very nice but not worth $250 for two based on good and service. This flagship was under water in its execution on this night. Too bad. Could have gone to Jasper's.

This was a perfect location for our annual old friends dinner. The food preparation is inventive and unexpected, but not so unusual as to alarm timid diners. An example is the foie gras, served with tart blackberries and crunchy pea shoots.

The lobster shooters are a house specialty, an unexpected preparation with a mild red curry sauce.

I especially recommend the Goodie Box for dessert.

The service, from the valet (with umbrellas in pouring rain) to the coat check was consistently excellent.

There are many fine dining choices in Dallas, Abacus is a consistent top-notch experience.

5 years into Dallas life before trying Abacus for the first time. What took me so long!? Go for the chef's menu with wine pairings. It's a lot of food, but in small doses so that you can taste every thing set before you. Service is impeccable and the servers will make suggestions on your first visit. I notice that couples frequent this venue, but it is also a great time for girls night out.

The chef really brings it. Not so strange that you can not recognize the ingredients but really good at melding different flavors. Nuanced plates with an excellent atmosphere.

From birthdays, New Years Eve and night out for dinner Abacus always delivers. Ask Jason at the bar to make you something/anything, then enjoy the menu! It's not pretentious it's just damn good!!!
