5 years into Dallas life before trying Abacus for the first time. What took me so long!? Go for the chef's menu with wine pairings. It's a lot of food, but in small doses so that you can taste every thing set before you. Service is impeccable and the servers will make suggestions on your first visit. I notice that couples frequent this venue, but it is also a great time for girls night out.

Thank MrsGarrett

The chef really brings it. Not so strange that you can not recognize the ingredients but really good at melding different flavors. Nuanced plates with an excellent atmosphere.

From birthdays, New Years Eve and night out for dinner Abacus always delivers. Ask Jason at the bar to make you something/anything, then enjoy the menu! It's not pretentious it's just damn good!!!

We frequent the Dallas area often always looking forward to a special meal. We had heard that if you liked Rathbuns in Atlanta, you would like his brothers place in Dallas. Therefore we had high expectations for Abacus.

We had 9:00 pm reservation on a recent Friday night. We were seated promptly at 9:20, followed by the waiters first visit 10 minutes later. Three of the four of us in our party had the "Allen Brothers Steak". Each of the steaks come with a special chefs steak sauce, which is quite surprising that a $56 bone in rib eye needs sauce. That said, two of us asked for the sauce to be out on the side. This request was lost in translation somewhere since both steaks came lying in a pool of steak sauce (some kind of coco-cherry concoction). The sauce sounded in words better than the delivery. The steak temperatures were prepared as described.

The side order vegetables were average at best. The $12 order of wild sautéed mushrooms were disappointing. We left a third of them.

They have an extensive wine list that has a price range to meet most people's wallet.

In conclusion, Abacus was an okay restaurant; but there are way too many other fine dining establishments in Dallas that have been too and would return to before going back to Abacus.

My husband and I went to Abacus for a date night in Dallas, and really enjoyed it! We had the lobster shooters, venison, and sushi, a raspberry tart for dessert, and multiple drinks from the bar~ and it was all delicious! That was hands down the best venison either of us have ever tasted, & the raspberry dessert was a perfect light ending. It is a little loud~ which was somewhat disappointing, but we were happily eating most of the time anyway! :))
