This is our fourth presidential library visit, and I really enjoyed it even though George W Bush was not my favorite president. The exterior of the building is rather ho-hum. The video on the inside walls of the rotunda was striking. The early family pictures of all the Bushes were charming. Bush's response to 9/11 was a highlight of his presidency and the library. I learned he is actually quite a funny guy, and there are good quips by Laura and their two daughters.

This is a terrific (and new) museum and Presidential Library. It is very well done and captures the essence of the man and his administration. The section on 9-11 is very moving and provides insight into what was taking place in our government during that terrible week in our history. Do take the time to put yourself in the decision theatre where you pick a moment from one of 4 that President Bush faced and then go through a fast paced process of hearing from competing points of view and media reports before making your collective decision on which course of action to pursue. Then you hear how Bush came to his decision. It is an interesting insight into the decision making process any President may face. Very worthwhile.

I have been to several pres. libraries/museums and this one rates near the top. It has some well thought-out galleries about various aspects of this period of time, some better than others. It is a bit on the expensive side and finding the parking lot wasn't well marked on the SMU campus, which was tied up in a lot of construction when we visited. The oval office replica was fun in that it included a facsimile of Bush's desk phone. There was a globe that showed the progress of democracy across the world that was very meaningful. And the "decision points theater" that many people have written about was just campy fun, not very insightful. Well worth a visit.

The museum begins with an 18-min video about George W. Bush's life thus far, and the rest of the exhibits builds and elaborates on the different periods of his life. The museum does a good job in communicating his background, character, and value, as well as explaining his achievements in light of significant global events during his era. Overall, it's very informative and inspiring.
