We loved the Perot Museum. The exhibits were outstanding. My kids were dragging their feet to get there and then didn't want to leave. The place was fresh, open, sunlit, vibrant... A kid magnet. I'd go again tomorrow if we could.
My only complaint is about over crowding. You would wait your turn and then get swarmed by a field trip group. There were too many kids in there (and it was not spring break!).
Buy tickets/make reservations in advance. And have fun learning with your kids!

Pros: The museum building is very interesting inside and out. The architecture makes the museum an exhibit as well as a building housing exhibits. There are tons of hands on exhibits for kids and adults as well excellent educational information. A series of escalators (one set of which is enclosed in glass outside the main structure) takes you to the top floor to being your journey down. Each floor represents a different set of exhibits and information. In lowest level houses a kid friendly museum for the preschool crowd. The 3D Meerkats movie was quite interesting.
Cons: Way too crowded! We had to stand in line for almost all hands on exhibits. The level of rude behavior was very high among both kids and adults due to the crowd. Support staff were generally polite but fairly clueless. I would ask a question multiple times and get multiple answers. I was very concerned that we had to leave the museum part to go to the movie on the main floor and wanted to be sure we could re-enter the museum after the movie. I was told we probably could but not one was sure. They did let us in again but it would have been nice if someone could have assured us ahead of time. The restaurant was far too expensive and the food was terrible. Don't bother to waste your money there.
Overall, the museum is wonderful for younger children but far too crowded for real enjoyment.

This is an excellent museum! I would recommend that you obtain your tickets online in advance. It is rare to see a museum sold out.

The architecture is amazing, as well as the exhibits. Very informative.

We would also recommend the live science discussions on the lower floor. Very enjoyable and he also involves kids.

We visited this museum and really enjoyed our day. We went during Texas spring break and knew we were in for heavy crowds. The museum was sold out most of the week along with the day we visited. Tip, purchase tickets online so you are not turned away at the door. Parking was not an issue but be prepared for full lots. Bring some cash for parking as they don't take credit cards in some of the parking areas. The building has some great architecture as well as city views! We spent a few hours going through the exhibts. Some favorites were the bio labs (Human Hall) and the earthquake simulator(Earth Hall). We did not view any of the 2 or 3D movies, but would enjoy seeing these on a future visit. This is a top 10 while visiting or just for a stay-exploration day. We will be back but will plan when it is less crowded.

The whole family really enjoyed this museum! There are lots of interesting areas to explore whether you are interested in space exploration, dinosaurs or the human body. There were a lot of hands-on exhibits and really unique parts, like the earthquake simulator. My only complaint was how crowded it was. We went during the week, early in the day, and there were TONS of kids on field trips. We could have stayed much longer but the crowds became overwhelming. However, it was a fun trip and we would go back! (although I might go later in the day after the school groups have left)
