We took the kids and grandkids here because the weather was extremely cold, and I was expecting to pretty much chaperone for the day. But this place turned out to be a world-class museum with much more than a family could see in a day; and there was something for everyone. All 4 levels are filled with classy displays, dioramas, and interactive learning experiences, with the science, astronomy, archaeology, and bird displays breathtaking. The toddlers and small kids loved the children's section downstairs. Not vey often a museum exceeds expectations to the degree that this one did!

Buy your tickets on line a day or two before you go; we had to wait a day because they were sold out. This policy kept all the floors from being overcrowded, and we were thankful in the end.

Our recent trip to Dallas included an afternoon at the brand new Perot Museum of Nature and Science. It was amazing. We wished we had more time, but the museum is so popular right now that patrons have to go online and pre-order their tickets for a specific time of entry. Don't let that stop you - our three hours there were filled with interesting displays, hands-on activities for the kids on all four levels, and fascinating permanent displays on topics from birds to dinosaurs. The collection of crystals and gemstones is stunning, and we spent a lot of time there learning about the minerals that created such beauty. We will make a point of returning there each time we visit Dallas. Not to be missed!

The Perot Museum is a must if you are in the Dallas area. We had so much fun, but you need more than one day to see everything. We did almost everything though! I think the sports section must have been our favorite part. Like I said a definite must to-do!

I was prepared to not like this museum at all since it is "high tech" and replaces a much beloved museum in Fair Park. Boy, was I wrong. The "high tech" is not at all standing in front of a computer keyboard and watching things on the screen. There are so many interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences.

I don't think you can see it all in one go, unless you are really dedicated, and running. In the Dinosaur Hall, for example, there is one magnetic wall with large (think 2 or 3 feet) pieces of dinosaurs and kids and adults can put them together to make "new" creatures. We made a large dinosaur with legs of another dinosaur coming out of his head for horns.

In the bird section, you can don 3D glasses, stand in front of a screen, extend your arms and fly like a bird, with your flight reflected, real time, on the large screen in front of you. Pay no attention to all the advice you get from the sidelines.

In the Sports section, you can race a TRes, a cheetah, a pro athlete -- you choose. (You will lose.)

There is a wall that lights up when you touch it, so it's fun to run along it and trail lights from your fingertips.

You can make music walking down the stairs, or up the stairs.

There are four or five large marimbas out front, with mallets. They are made out of steel and other materials, and you can improvise tunes with the strangers at the other "keyboards."

Wow. Buy a membership if you live in the area and get free visits for your family for the year.

Can you tell it's fun for kids and grownups?

This museum is great for all ages and I was so impressed! There are 4 floors of stuff to explore-everything from dinosaurs, planets and sports. Kids will love it. You can run against a T-Rex and swab your cheek for DNA. Wonderful museum!!!
