“Eager to return”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

We had a wonderful meal at Driftwood last night and are eager to go back again. The lobster roll appetizer was delicious, but different. It had lobster claw meat cut up small on a buttery brioche roll, flavored with tarragon and a touch of heat. My black grouper was wonderfully seared and cooked just right, served with large white beans in a tasty light sauce. He had Morrocan spiced shrimp served with some of the best lentils and bacon I have ever eaten.
The decor is fresh and new but not as stylish as most restaurants in this price range. The dining room is small and we could easily hear the conversations at nearby tables. Our waitress Sarah was attentive but spoke very quickly in a loud voice.
For the area, it was great to have some onsite parking and nearby street parking too.
I enjoyed a glass of sauvignon blanc from South Africa that was less fruity than the Marlboroughs I usually drink - very good.

“Fabulous in Every Way”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Insanely great dishes prepared by one of the top Chefs in Dallas Texas. If you demand the best seafood and are willing to pay for it this is the place for you. Don't come here expecting a huge plate of fried seafood for ten bucks. This is the best in Dallas along with Spoon, TJ's, and 20 Feet.

Restaurant has a pleasant casual feel with great service but outstanding food. Of the four in our party nobody was disappointed by their dinner choice.

“A Work In Process”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

I'm a foodie, so i like Chef driven Restaurants. Challenges are many and Driftwood needs to work on them. First, the food served was very good to excellent. It does take time to get to the table as there is a lot (too much?) of "massaging" of the food as it is being plated. The Romaine Hearts Salad with anchovy dressing was a nice take on a Caesar. Ocean Going Trout was delightful set on a zippy quinoa. Worth going back for. Wife's Lobster Roll & Chargrilled Octopus were delightful. Now, we had a reservation for 5pm. They were not prepared. They started off behind and stayed behind. If you open at 5 and take reservations you need to be ready to go. They have a $35 chef 3 course menu but were not prepared to talk about it. So, everything was just out of sorts during the entire (1 3/4 hour) meal. They change menus often (according to the staff). The current menu is not on line. They need to keep up to date. Perhaps they are overwhelmed? Bring the staff in earlier, get the communication between kitchen and front house improved and have someone oversee your website. Potential is there. But they have work to do.
