“A decent hotel in the city center”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

Lots of positives but several negatives. Positives include good downtown
location at a very reasonable room rate. Clean, spacious nicely decorated rooms in modern style with large screen tv, writing desk, comfortable seating area and good size bath/shower with ample closet /storage. Staff are very friendly, helpful and Service is very good. Checkin and checkout are made simple by service oriented staff. Two negatives 1.food and 2. sheets/linens. The biggest drawback is food quality and preparation. Had breakfast twice and lunch once. One morning the breakfast hash browns were so cold and greasy tasting they were inedible so probably not freshly made and clearly not warmed up enough. Lunch was not great either. However, there are lots of restaurants nearby so the food at the hotel is not too important. Once positive is that they serve a gret Starbucks beverage. The most annoying thing was that the sheets did not fit the bed so as soon as you laid down the corners came up and inevitably you ended up sleeping on an uncovered mattress by morning. I thought this was only my bed until I asked the three other colleagues I was with who all experienced the same. Bath linens are not great quality either. Despite the inconvenience all in all a decent downtown hotel at a reasonable rate.

Room Tip: rooms over look either a parking lot or adjacent mall interior. rooms overlooking the mall offer a p...

not a big Marriott fan in general but stayed here due to location and I had a free-night certificate; seems to have been refurbished fairly recently but not finished out well; no single overwhelming complaint but several smalls ones: rooms have two doubles instead of two queens (the doubles are disclosed in the reservation) , alarm-like buzzing from air duct at 4:30am lasted for 10 minutes (didn't help to turn off thermostat), loose handle on toilet (must have been from previous guests "jiggling" it to try and stop the tank (lid off) from refilling every 15 minutes); one phone in room and it's not near the beds; bathtub fixture installed crooked; divider wall in bathroom is crooked; biggest issue may have been the TV was slanted to one side and wouldn't straighten; sent to room with two keys and neither worked; noisy if you have a "city view" room
for positives, we did get to check in around 8am (seemed to be very low occupancy so not sure why we didn't get a better room); food court in same building; room service breakfast was good

Room Tip: city view room was noisy

This hotel was perfectly located for downtown meetings. It is not that far from DFW ,but, it can take quite awhile in this traffic. The room was quite large for a downtown hotel. It was also very nice. The staff was very nice and pleasant as well. The rate was reasonable for this hotel. I would return here again.

This was the hotel selected for a meeting. Why, when this was a one-day event, requiring all that time to and from DFW was unclear?

The room was pleasant. The employees were friendly and helpful. The atrium, where the meal functions were conducted, was chilly and not good, particularly in the winter; moreover, the food was mediocre at best.

A plus was the free Wi-Fi.

We stayed here 4 nights in October this year for a convention. We enjoyed the room very much. It was spacious and clean. The Dart picks up next to the hotel. I used it to venture to Northpark Mall one afternoon when I didn't have car access. We had stayed here in the last few years when it was a Westin. It was just as nice. The bathrooms have been reconfigured and were smaller than before. The shower (no tub) was a very tight space and we are average sized people. There isn't much bathroom storage. The beds and linens were nice and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to book and stay here again.

The central location afforded by the hotel was marred overall due to a lack in other areas. i ordered champagne and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival. However, upon close inspection the bubbly was Cava from Spain. We had arrived after 1am and were too tired to complain so we drank the Cava. In the morning we highlighted the fact that Cava is not Champagne to the concierge, he just exclaimed "Oh! really" and that was the last we heard about it. There was no apology, no replacement, no compensation.

Upon arrival we had to carry our bags to reception, even with valet parking. The service left a lot to be desired and a hotel of this calibre failed to live up to it's expectations.

Wifi was not free and even in the lobby the wifi is restricted to hotel amenities. Where on earth do they get this arrogance of having to pay even to use wifi in the lobby.

The bar tenders did not have a full grasp of knowledge of alcoholics beverages. They were confused when certain drinks were requested, i.e. Hendricks Gin with cucumber and Fevertree tonic water.

Plus, the room service does not operate beyond 11pm especially on the weekend, and no alternative was offered either within the hotel or externally. For example front desk did not supply us with names of restaurants in the local vicinity, except for one. There were no choices within the hotel and no help offered, even a pizza place.

The only good thing was a clean room and a nice comfortable bed

Room Tip: Get a room facing the internal atrium

As said overall we had a nice and comfortable stay in this Marriott !
A big plus for the staff ! Always friendly. The room was a nice surprise on the 10th floor, big and well appointed. We enjoyed the lounge on floor 16, breakfast was rather poor !
Why not a 5 rating ? Because the location is not what we expected !
