“A Gem in Dallas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

I statyed there in October for a conference and was very satisfied for many reasons. This hotel was clean, quiet and the rooms were large, and provided me with ample space for work which was needed during my stay. Transportation to the Dallas Convention Center was easy only a quick cab ride and the staff was outstanding. The hotel is not in downtown Dallas but if you are here for work and need to get work done its the perfect place.

Room Tip: Away from elevators and looking over street

Stayed here for 5 nights over end of Nov. begininng of Dec 2012. Elevators were being remodeled and periodically one would be out of service while being worked on, but never had long waits. Stayed in roon 211, had a city view, much prefered this view to the alternative of the atrium of shops. Room had 2 double beds, flat screen tv, desk, easy chair with a side table. Room was fairly large had had plenty of storage space. There was a fridge and coffee maker, also travel brochures about the area in the room. Bathroom is average, has bath and body products. Loved the individual reading lights on each side of the bed, and there was plenty of lighting. In the lobby each day are 2 fruit flavored waters that were all really good and refreshing. Nice exercise room that has apples and ear buds in addition to water and towels. Hotel is very close to public transportation that we took to Dallas Mavericks game, was very easy to navigate. Breakfast buffet good with plenty of choices. Would stay at again if in the area.

Rooms are large, quite, clean and comfortable. Not a lot of food choices near the hotel. The food establishments in the mall attached to the hotel close around 4 in the afternoon. Had to walk over 1 mile away to find a Potbelly sandwich shop. The elevators need updating, they are very slow, routinely wait over 5 minutes plus floor display in the elevator is hard to read. Concierge lounge need needs larger selection of desserts in the evening, cookies and fruit are not what I would have expected from such a plush new lounge.

Located in the Plaza of the Americas area. Skywalk access is available to various nearby buildings. A former and recently remodeled Westin I believe. I had a very nice room with an inside view of the shopping mall/ice rink. The staff is very helpful and attentive. The Concierge Lounge is extremely pleasant and nicely decocorated. I was told that it might be the largest hotel Concierge Lounge in the USA. It is a very nice place to relax, conduct business, meet friends, etc. It was staffed last week by two friendly and helpful attendants. My only observation was the lack of Christmas decorations!!!! (which the attendants indicated they would address).

Room Tip: Platinum member upgrade.

I am currently in this Marriott and it very good. The rooms are extremely well prepared, very clean and the bar and restaurant area are immaculate. Every employee I have spoken with is very nice and helpful, and two openly talked about how they love working here. It is a very nice hotel. The only downside is no pool or spa.

We stayed on a weekend night at a deeply discounted rate that included the breakfast buffet. The room was clean and very comfortable (especially the bed), the lobby lounge area spacious and the front desk and housekeeping staff friendly and responsive (brought us a rollaway bed). The hotel experienced a mechanical problem that left us with cool water for showers in the morning but offered a reasonable adjustment to our bill to compensate for our inconvenience, which was appropriate. Parking is expensive, but no more so than most downtown hotels. We were on the 10th floor and our room was very quiet. Marriott has done a good job of renovating this property. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the food and service were very good.

Room Tip: Upper floors should be very quiet.

This was a great value for a downtown location. The room was beautifully appointed and in excellent condition. The layout and design were especially functional, having a small dressing area in front of the bathroom, which offers more privacy than in most hotel rooms, and gives more of a suite-like feeling. The room was also spacious, with a nice view. However, as I've experienced at other Marriotts and similar hotels, they really gouge you with the extras. Parking is $23 and the breakfast buffet is $19! And the other options don't save you much on the cost. I ordered off the menu, which had some interesting and creative options, but my food didn't taste fresh. One thing that marred my experience was that the room was freezing when we checked in, in the evening. The AC was blasting, even though it's late November. Even turning the thermostat to 80 F, it took ages for the room to warm up and of course the bed was cold. I was really uncomfortable and unable to enjoy the nice room until the next morning.

Room Tip: This has nothing to do with the hotel, but beware of a maroon minivan cab with the number 522 on th...
