“Fun Funky Shops”

Lots of shops to look thru, Good Food places to sample. Go to Dude Sweet Chocolate and Empire Pie company if you want some delicious treats. Hunkies for good burgers and Enos for tasty pizza. GingerFox art Gallery is very cool too, and Ginger is usually there to chat with you about the are on display and for sale.

“Cutesy Shopping”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

This is a little area in Oak Cliff where you can do some shopping, grab some brunch, and then after dark, dinner and drinks. It's well laid out, and has a highly visible police presence. (The surrounding neighborhood has a reputation for being quite rough, but within the Arts District itself, you feel perfectly safe.) The shops are all little gifty boutques, art galleries, and a pet store. There is also a florist. This isn't where you want to go if you're wanting serious shopping. This is more, wandering around, with some impulse buying. The gems of the neighborhood are Lockhart's for barbecue, and then the bakery right next to it. (They have some amazingly wonderful pies and cakes.)

“Austin-like neighborhood in the Big D”

I really really love spending time here. The buildings, little shops, cafes and restaurants are unique. If you wonder where do live the bohos or hipsters of Dallas, Bishop Arts District is the answer.

There are so many great little independent shops & resturants in the area ... Fete-ish, Shambhala Body Gallery, DFW M'Antiques, Dude Sweet Chocolate, Emporium Pies, We are 1976, Espumoso Caffe, VeraCruz, Oddfellows, Hunky's... just writing about it makes we want to head there now!
