“Deliciously Fun!”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

After being in Dallas for a conference all week, I finally had a chance to see and learn more about the city over the weekend, with family who came up from Houston. This was an AMAZING way to spend the day on Saturday! Our tour guide, Zach, was funny and knowledgeable, and did a great job herding us through Uptown and our food and drink selections. As far as food and drink are concerned - you will NOT be hungry when you finish!

Thank you for the experience - I'll be sure to recommend you to anyone else I know who is going to Dallas - and I'll be taking the tour myself if I'm ever back in town!

“Brilliant Introduction to Dallas”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

This was our first trip to Dallas and was a lovely way to see part of the old town up close and personal, our guides knowledge of the area was second to none and it was a great way to meet new people albeit for a short afternoon. Highly recommended

Dallas is an amazing city for first-timers, as well as natives and we’re glad you got to meet new people and see the town on your afternoon tour. Thanks for recommending us and I hope this is the first of many trips to Dallas and to us!

“Just alright.”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We vacationed with another family in Dallas recently and took the Dallas Uptown food tour.
I will start by noting the positive elements of the tour.
All of the food we tasted on the tour was delicious and in most regards, unique. Our group especially like the chicken fried steak and waffles at Pop Diner. One of our friends on the tour has several uncommon allergies and the tour guide ensured she was able to enjoy the tour regardless of the dietary limitations. She even got a special margarita from the bar at Primos. Also, our guide made a great effort to give us tips of fun places in the city to go after the tour.

Let me preface the negative aspects by saying that half of our party has enjoyed other companies tours in other US cities.
While our tour guide Jim was a nice man, we was not the tour guide type and instead very awkward. He did not make anyone in the party feel particularly comfortable. Though a historian, he offered us very little history about uptown or the restaurants. His use of cue cards during the tour made the tour feel unnatural.
Unlike other food tours we have enjoyed, we did not do as many tastings. We only had 4 stops on the trip. While there was a lot of food at each location, we would have preferred more stops, with less food. This would increase our variety of food our knowledge of locations in the city. To make matters worse, we stayed at each location for far too long. After waiting a good 10 minutes to get our food we would finish eating and sit around another 15-20 minutes until we moved to the next place. We were all bored during these idle minutes and our guide didn't even use this time to give us stories about Uptown or the restaurants.
We had 3 people in our party under the age of 21. At the Mexican restaurant, they could not have a margarita. This was understandable but it would have been nice for them to be offered a soda or something else. But this wasn't it. Or fourth, and final location was a bar where we were only offered Booze Pops. The adults enjoyed them while the teens just sat there. We found it wrong that guests under 21 had to pay the same amount as the adults while they were only able to enjoy 3 of the 4 tastings. If this is the way it is going to be, people under the age of 21 should pay less for their ticket to the tour.

While we will not recommend this tour to our friends in the Dallas area, we still had an enjoyable afternoon at the tasting with our party.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your tour. We value the opportunity to know your thoughts on the enjoyable aspects and to use your comments to improve on others. I am so happy to know that you enjoyed the food.

From your feedback, it seems that you may have preferred our 3.5 hour Dine & Walk Tour which includes more tasting locations along with an additional hour of historic commentary and sightseeing. Given that our stops are all sit down restaurant tastings, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate additional locations on our 2.5 hour Dine & Dash tour. If you return to Dallas, though, we would be happy to invite you to join us again on a complimentary Dine & Walk Tour.

In regard to Jim, our newest tour guide, we feel that his extensive 20-year career as a Dallas historian is of tremendous value. I do apologize though that you were distracted by his use of notes as he becomes comfortable with our scripted material. Also, I’m so sorry that we did not have a non alcoholic substitution available on your tour. To better accommodate non drinkers, we are currently modifying our ticketing system so that alcohol is optional.

Thank you again for taking the time to offer your feedback. We are always trying to improve our guests’ experience.

Sincerely,

Jodi

“Exploring Uptown Dallas”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

I recently attended this tour and had an incredible experience! I have lived in Dallas, specifically uptown, for 2 years, and I was very impressed with the new and interesting information I learned during the tour. My tour guide was Vanessa, and she did a phenomenal job in creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere In addition, the customer service was great! Vanessa was extremely attentive, and all of the restaurants were ready for us and extremely welcoming to our group. I would definitely recommend attending this tour and plan to do so again with family and friends who visit me.
