“Very Disappointing!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

My boyfriend bought tickets to the Food Tours of America as a surprise for me. I had heard about it and really wanted to do it. Both he and I love great food, wine and the Uptown area of Dallas so we were very excited to experience this. This was not at all what we imagined it would be!!! The tastings were just that...very small tastes of terrible food. I guess in that regard we should be thankful that they were only tastings! There were really no significant historical places. We just seemed to do a lot of walking through residential areas. We did ride the trolley car a short distance. We spent more time sitting in a very overcrowded trolley car than it would have taken us to walk. The restaurant choices were not the best especially with all the great places to eat in Uptown. We started at a Moroccan place and that wasn't too bad, but yogurt samples and french fries are not exactly the best samplings of food in the area. The Mexican food wasn't bad. We were excited that a margarita was included but it turned out to be a shot glass of frozen margarita that tasted like a premix bought at Sam's club and the food was mediocre and cold. We ended at Magnolia movie theatre for dessert that wasn't even provided by the theatre it was from Bread Winners.. Why didn't we eat it at Bread Winners? That was strange. The tour guide was over the top and annoying. Very theatrical in her presentation. What a long 3 hours wasted of our day! My suggestion....look up trip advisors top choices in restaurants in Uptown, choose one and spend your money there having a good and enjoyable dining experience then spend some time walking around Uptown on your own. Believe me, you will have a much better time and your money much better spent!

Dear Nakia,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. I am sincerely sorry that you did not enjoy much about your tour with us. If you would please take a moment to email foodtoursusa@gmail.com with your contact information I would like to give you and your boyfriend a full refund for your ticket purchase and any gratuity you gave your tour guide.

Usually our participants provide excellent feedback on the upbeat personality of our guides, our restaurant tastings, and the historic McKinney Avenue Trolleys and the State Thomas Historic district - Dallas' oldest surviving neighborhood and largest cluster of Victorian homes. We selected our restaurants because they are each award winning for their food, and because most are family owned and operated and have a deep connection to the community. Our participants often tell us that they return to the restaurants because they had such a good experience there during their tasting.

Again, I'm so sorry that you did not enjoy your afternoon with us and that our choice of restaurants, tour guide personality, and historic attractions did not appeal to you, especially since this was a birthday celebration. I hope that you will contact me directly so that I can issue a refund.

Sincerely,

Jodi

“A very professional outfit!”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

We had a most enjoyable time on this fast-paced, jam-packed tour of Uptown Dallas eateries. I can't think of a better way to spend 3 hours. A good mix of restaurants, Dallas trivia, and exercise. The tour was extremely well-organized, and the guides were energetic, kind, and full of personality. Highly recommended!

“Fun, even for the locals!”
Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

We live in Dallas and decided to "be a tourist" for an afternoon and take the Uptown food tour. What a wonderful experience. Jodi was super friendly and upbeat and we met some really nice people from all over the US. We also learned some facts we didn't know about the area and got to try some tasty restaurants (we WILL return to them, YUM!). We take food tours all over the US and this rates right up there with some of the best. Plenty of food, a tasty margarita, and good company. Thanks again for a great afternoon.

“A Must Do in Dallas!”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

My husband and I had the opportunity to spend our anniversary in Dallas and one of the highlights of our trip was the walking food tour in Uptown Dallas. Jodi was so accomodating, fun and energetic! She shared lots of interesting fun facts and history about the area and each of the eateries we visited. The food was tasteful and plentiful! Riding the McKinney Street Trolley was a blast from the past that we enjoyed so much that we returned later in the day and rode it for an hour, enjoying more sights and chatting with the conductor after a relaxing afternoon matinee at the wonderful Magnolia theater that the tour introduced us to. We returned to one of the restaurants we visited on the tour for a late dinner and drinks to wrap up a perfectly beautiful day. For anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable time in Dallas, take this tour. You will NOT be disappointed or go away hungry! Thanks Jodi for making our anniversary so special!
