Overall, the stay was a pleasant one. I was in town during A-Kon, so the entire strip of hotels near the Hilton Anatole was booked pretty solid, and I needed a last-minute booking. While there were no problems with my reservation, their online booking system did not bill me in advance, so if you're using the Homewood Suites website, be prepared. Aside from this little miscommunication, check-in was smooth. No issues were made of our pets, and we were allowed to unload our car through the front entry way.
Approaching the hotel from the street was a bit of an adventure. From Stemmons Freeway, the hotel has a sign with small letters that is obscured by trees, and on windy days a flag. You can't see the sign until you're right on top of it, and from Irving Boulevard there's no access to the hotel's proper parking lot. There is access to a lot the hotel shares with a Whataburger, but not to the hotel's front entrance or its main lot.
The hotel's common area facilities were pleasant enough, but the doors on the sides of the building were tricky to open. Some guests could get them to function correctly on a single card swipe, whereas I had to jiggle the card in the reader to get the door to open. Hotel staff seemed unaware of this issue.
The room was quite comfortable, and the full-size fridge was very convenient for storing liquids and food for our pets. The flat-screen TVs were a nice touch, but the hotel's TV browser left a little to be desired, taking a slightly longer loading time than a normal TV, and hiding the Live TV option on a second menu. The bed was quite comfortable, and the desk space was plenty to set up my wife's work computer.
The linens provided were acceptable, with the towels and such being above average for a hotel. The bedding was comfortable - admittedly the pillows were not to my personal taste - but somewhat inconvenient. If the duvet slips off the bed, it can become bunched into the duvet cover.
The breakfast was tasty and filling, although an option for hot tea would be nice to have.
Overall, it was a great stay at a hotel chain that I have come to trust. I would stay here again if I found myself in Dallas.
