“BEST PIZZA IN QUAINT NEIGHBORHOOD”
Reviewed October 7, 2011

I love this pizza! We always ask to sit on the patio, which sometimes can be loud with trucks passing on the overhead. Pizzas are thin, crisp, and charred on the "bone" (crust). My favorite is the arugula and prosciutto. This is definitely not your Papa John's, Domino's or Pizza Hut! Sandwiches and pastas are good as well, but the main attraction is the pizza - cooked for 2 minutes, I believe, in a 900 degree oven. They only serve beer and wine. Our server was great - attentive and friendly. Here's a must: bring dollar bills as parking in this area has those parking lots where you enter your parking space number and insert the money.

“Like a Quick Trip to Naples, Italy”
Reviewed October 7, 2011

Il Cane Rosso (The Red Dog) is licensed by the Association of Neapolitan Pizza to deliver to your table the most delicious pizza you can imagine. They import the flour, the tomatoes, the mozzarella, and probably the basil from Italy. They have the huge red brick oven that heats the crust to perfection. And their sandwiches are dynamite! Don't miss this genuine Neapolitan pizzeria. Eating there is like a quick trip to Naples.

“Authentic Naples pizza in Dallas”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

Il Cane Rosso is THE place to go in Dallas for authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza. Located in Deep Ellum, just east of the downtown area, Il Cane Rosso offers many varieties of thin-crust pizza that take just a minute or two to cook in the wood-fired oven before being brought hot to your table. Don't miss the wonderful caprese salad featuring delicious mozzarella, and be tempted by dessert, too! Nice selection of wines. Great for families, friends, and date nights.

“Best pizza in Dallas”
Reviewed September 11, 2011

This place is awesome. Kind of hole-in-the-wall, in a cool part of town, and the food is simply outstanding. I have eaten pizza in Florence and Rome and this is as good as any I have had there! One of my favorite spots in town.

“Great Food, Crappy Service.”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

I love, love, love the pizza, and the atmosphere is terrific, but every time I've visited (three times in the past 5 months), the service is memorable for it's blunders. The bartender doesn't know much about the wine list or the wines on it (first visit), and tried to take our bottle and glasses away before we were finished (just last weekend). On all three visits, our servers were sub-par to the point of wondering how they ever got hired. They were slow, not very attentive, brought our check before asking if we would like dessert or coffee, and one server even asked if she could pour a taste of wine for another customer (a stranger to me) out of my bottle because the bartender told her she'd had too many "tastes" for her customers!!??! This is all such a shame because the guys preparing the pizza are great, the food is great, but someone needs to step up and deal with the chronically lousy servers. The issues with the servers can be corrected and the owner/manager should treat that as a priority imho.
