The Omni Dallas is a fantastic hotel and we enjoyed our stay from start to finish. It was a great vacation and for someone looking to enjoy the sites of Dallas and feel like they are away at a resort, this is the place to stay! All of the staff members that we encountered throughout our stay were friendly, nice and made you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this hotel!
The trip started off with a quick and easy check in and we were given a high floor room with a beautiful view of the Dallas skyline. The friendly bellmen who took our luggage escorted us to our room and gave us an overview of how things work and the highlights of the room. The tv built into the bathroom mirror is very cool and the glass never fogs!! Need one of these at home. The room was modern, clean and beautiful.
We then went downstairs to the Owners Box to have lunch. This is a modern and upscale sports bar. We were served by Erin who could not have been any more accommodating, funny, friendly and nice. If I owned a bar or restaurant, I would want her working for me. She was very entertaining and she made our first meal in Dallas a blast and a unique experience!! Thanks for making my daughter a grilled cheese. The food and drinks were delicious! We came back three more times during our stay. Then we visited the gift shop which my young daughter loved! We visited numerous times during our stay and the staff were always super nice and friendly.
The best part of this hotel, besides the look and design, and the staff we encountered is the infinity pool. The views at night and day of the Dallas skyline are spectacular and you feel like you are at a resort. Also, the drinks and bar staff were first class. Everyone is drinking in the pool and hanging out in the sun all while taking in a view of Dallas that is tough to beat. Doesn't get any better at this place! We were there on a Saturday when the pool was like being in Las Vegas. It was packed with people in their twenties who were hanging in the pool and drinking. It was party central, but I noticed that everyone was very polite and their was no inappropriate behavior. It was a great afternoon. The next day everyone was gone and the pool was quiet the remainder of our trip. If you don't want to see people drinking and having a great time and feeling like you are in Las Vegas on vacation with your family, then you should skip the pool on a Saturday afternoon/night in the summer. I would come back to visit this hotel just to hang out in the pool for a long-weekend!
The hotel is isolated a bit from the city and there is not much around in terms of casual places to eat. That being said, during the day you are fine walking to Dealey Plaza and the JFK Museum which is only a few blocks away. I agree that the area around the hotel is a bit sketchy at night. Lot of parking lots and no people. Much like any big city, you don't want to be roaming around in an area that you don't know. At the end of our 5 night stay we were a bit tired of the hotel food and it would have been great to have a few options close by. However, the hotel offers a car service which can take you to any local spot that you want to go. Cabs are very expensive in Dallas so we took advantage of the car service to drive us to the aquarium, the Perot Museum, school book museum and dinner one night. The drivers were always super nice! You can also get breakfast or coffee (Starbucks) downstairs and eat a casual meal at the Owners Box. We ate one night at Texas Spice. It was good, but not great. The food was too much Tex-Mex for what we like. We did however enjoy having a few drinks sitting outside by the fireplace. Also, the lobby lounge was a fun place to sit and people watch at night. The bartender makes the best Harvest Manhattan ever!! We also enjoyed room service which was always delicious. The eggs benedict with beef brisket was out of this world. I would rather stay at the Omni Dallas compared to a hotel in a great area. It is just a spectacular hotel and it really does a great job of creating a guest experience vs just staying somewhere.
The only negative experience we encountered during our stay was the room cleaning. Clearly the hotel was understaffed in this area. There were two days when we returned from a long day of site seeing around 6pm and the room was not touched or cleaned. Returning to your room after walking around in the summer heat to a uncleaned room is not a good feeling. Then if you want it cleaned, you have to leave for them to clean it. That is very inconvenient when you need to get showered and ready for dinner reservations. I would recommend telling them when you want your room cleaned everyday. That way, it does not get overlooked.
I would highly recommend the Omni Dallas Hotel to couples or families looking for a unique and upscale vacation experience. While the hotel is modern and beautiful, the environment is still very casual and relaxing, yet offers upscale experiences if that is what you choose. The staff is great and the hotel offers everything that you would want for an enjoyable and memorable stay. My 11 year old daughter keeps talking about what a great time she had at the hotel. We will be back!
