“Great fish and nice valet parking...”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

The quality of the fish is great but everything else is so-so. Saturday night dinner with advance reservation - no table available...when eventually - badly seated - table by the kitchen access of this fish store with tables in front - we chose our food and wine - we were greeted with a dish of oyster crackers, no bread in sight, out of our first choice of wine - the service was inadequate, the fourth appetizer never materialized... the ahi tuna tartare was huge, overspiced and looked like a dog's dinner, just a mound of farmed salmon with a few specks of black sesame in a raging hot sauce...the plate dressing for the entrees was non existent - just fish dumped on plates - on the + side the mahi mahi was very good and so was the fried trio of succulent calamari, shrimp and oysters and the fresh shucked oysters were divine. The veggie sides which are chosen from the board reminded me of the 1960s: greyish snap peas and watery okra... We saw some desserts pass by, nothing to rave about on the looks side...we went home and i fixed dessert. So to sum up: if you don't know how to cook fish and don't mind being in the way of inattentive staff - the bill included the lobster bisque that my son-in-law never received and the server on being asked to remove it did not even flinch - that's the place...we will keep trying to find nice seafood in Dallas.

“Surprisingly delicious!”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We use Yelp and Trip Advisor to get ideas for new restaurants locally. We read the reviews about this place and decided to try it. It's very casual. They sell raw fish from a counter or you can sit and have something prepared. We had read the Chilean Sea Bass was great. We tried it and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We also tried the soup of the day, the spicy tuna, fish tacos and ceviche. Everything was amazing. Our waiter brought us samples of the soup so we could try it without ordering a whole bowl. He was unassuming yet always there if needed. It was a perfect experience!

“Unpretentious Dining in Pretentious Dallas”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

This is one of the best seafood restaurants that I have eaten in. Small, and not fancy, but gourmet food, daily specials listed on the chalkboard.

“Love this place!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Excellent seafood in a casual atmosphere. My repeat favorite is the blackened redfish with lemon caper sauce but the Barramundi was a treat today. Highly sought after sides include sautéed spinach and cheesy grits. Why travel to New Orleans when such a tasty venue is blocks away? Consistently good fresh fish available to take home at the fish counter.

“I can't here you”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

The food is excellent, although the rather large serving of sea bass seemed to need a bit more seasoning. Nevertheless, it was very good. The side dishes were fresh and flavorful. My wife rates the scallops on par with those she gets at our favorite upscale fish restaurant in Austin.
She would order them again.
The service was ok, and our server was pleasant and knowledgable. So far, so good.
The "ambiance," well, there wasn't any. The plywood walls, the hard tile floor, the 1950s style seating, and even the chalkboard used to supplement the menu were tolerable. But the NOISE!
The noise rose and fell, with people yelling at each other across their small tables. I was unable to talk with my wife because of the din. When we left, my ears were ringing from the incessant assault. To add to the decibels, some sort of music was playing but I have no idea what it was.
If we come back to Dallas, and IF we have learned American Sign Language, and if I remember to stuff my ears with cotton, then we might try it again, or consider ordering our dinners to go.
Such a pity, as the food was well crafted and the service quite acceptable. Do go there if you can put up with an over abundance of decibels.
