Owner description: Thanks-Giving Square is a place that inspires gratitude and honors the great American and world traditions of thanksgiving. Designed in 1976 by architect Philip Johnson, this island of serenity in the heart of downtown Dallas contains a landscaped meditation garden with cascading fountains and a chapel open to people of all faiths and traditions. Gabriel Loire's dramatic "Glory Window" and Norman Rockwell's "Golden Rule" mosaic are highlights of the art collection on display. Throughout the year Thanks-Giving Square hosts an array of events, exhibitions, and community celebrations that promote the spirit and unifying value of giving thanks. Visitor guide available in English, Spanish, Chinese, French, Russian, Arabic. Braille/tactile signage available. The garden is open from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day. Due to long-term renovation projects, hours of indoor facilities vary and are subject to change (check the website for the latest information). Chapel of Thanksgiving: Open 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday; Open 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday; Closed Tuesday. Hall of Thanksgiving (museum and bookshop): Open by special appointment only. Please call or email to inquire.

“A peaceful oasis in a busy city...”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

This place is located in the heart of Dallas, easy to access. There is no parking, so you'll have to park in the street using parking meters (about $1). The admision is free. It's very peaceful and quite once you are inside the structure. Inside you are allowed to sit and pray ( in your own religion) because it's not designed for any religion in particular. On the bottom there is a little museum. Very nice!!

“Fascinating Concept”
Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

If you like art and architecture, you will like the thanks giving square. The conceptual design of the whole square including the chapel, garden, water fall, the bells and the exhibit hall is fascinating. I must say though the city authorities or whoever is responsible for the facilities must spend some money to renovate and maintain this artistic architectural treasure.

“Very humbling”
Reviewed July 6, 2012 via mobile

The Thanks Giving Square had a peaceful feeling and really makes you remember the reason why we are here and to care and help others in life. Very pretty art work and such a humble place to go. This is a good place to take children to help them learn about Thanksgiving and the true meaning. This place can really bring people back to reality.

“Inspiring, peaceful park”

Lovely oasis in center of the city - running water, bells, mural of peace for all nations, inspiring exhibit area, but best is the chapel and this glorious ceiling.
