Owner description: Built by the State of Texas for the 1936 Centennial Exposition, the Hall of State is the crown jewel of Fair Park and has hosted events honoring presidents, royalty, heads of state, and other dignitaries for over seventy years. Located just minutes from downtown Dallas, the Hall of State can be rented for private functions ranging from corporate dinners or meetings to weddings or gala social events. Imagine cocktails in the impressive Hall of Heroes followed by a sumptuous dinner in the Great Hall, dancing under the stars in clear tents set up on the front lawn, a stockholders meeting in the Margaret and Al Hill Lecture Hall, or a product launch in the Texas Rooms. The possibilities are endless and the event support services offered by our responsive team of experts assure every event to be a fabulous success. Rental fees support the operations of the Dallas Historical Society and represent our single largest revenue stream.

We have lived in the Dallas area for 35+ years and have traveled world-wide (as is apparent from our reviews). We always look for sites which uniquely represent the place we are visiting. The Texas Hall of Fame at Fair Park is the one site in Dallas which uniquely evokes Texas and its history. In addition, the art-deco buildings which surround it are one of the best collections of such buildings in the US. We highly recommend a visit, even if it is a little removed (but not that far) from the better known sites and attractions in downtown Dallas.

I went to hear speaker's at the regular Dallas Historical Society. The auditorium is large and nice, but the exhibits upstairs are definitely sparse and wanting. The front with the golden warrior shooting his bow is a beautiful item to grace the entrance, just not much inside.

My son and daughter-in-law's wedding reception was held at the Hall of State. An absolutely beautiful venue. And it's captivating to recognize all the rich Texas history recorded and celebrated there!

Many interesting things to see regarding the history of our great state! If you are at Fair Park, don't miss it. If you go to the state fair, make sure you drop in to Hall of State, but leave your beverages outside.

Interesting exhibits during the state fair but I'm not certain it's worth the trip if you aren't already there. Its an old building with not much to see if there isn't a special exhibit you are visiting.
