“Very Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

Need to go back during the "growing season." December find the place a bit brown, even though there is still lots to see, and much of it is green and some flowers are still blooming. And yes, we had 3 to 4 inches of snow on Christmas. ...go figure. Why is it every time I visit Texas in winter it snows? 3 times....
Be prepared for crowds at the Arboretum and a fee to get in if you're not a "yearly member."
The gardens are worth seeing.

“Gorgeous Flower areas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

The grounds are outstanding. The flowers are only a part of these gardens. The different areas with bridges and waterfalls and fountains are just as special to look at as much as the beautiful plants

“A lovely oasis in the middle of Dallas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

The Dallas Arboretum is a nice place to spend a day. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. You may bring in food and have a picnic. We came around Halloween and the place was packed. Even so, it was still very pleasant and there's enough room for everybody. I look forward to going again.

“Spectacular Gardens! Serenity at its Best!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

This marked our first visit to the Arboretum, and we loved it! I can only imagine how much more spectacular it becomes in full bloom!

Parking was painless-easy to find, guides to show you empty spots, nothing too far out. Not sure if this is the norm, but we were pretty pleased.

Upon entering you pay for admission and for parking, which was also quite easy.
We grabbed a map, which is admittedly not very helpful, but we noticed the place is laid out such that it's fairly easy to find your way around.

The grounds are very well kept, with markers nearby to acquaint you with the various trees, flowers, etc. We went to see the Chihuly exhibit, which was very pretty.

A major plus: we read online you can bring in food, drinks, adult bevs, etc which really impressed me, as I feel like most places like this try to force you to eat at their shops. We stopped first at Jimmy's (my fav Italian joint for GREAT sandwiches) and brought those with us. Upon entering, there were free tables to eat at, though you could also bring a blanket and camp out anywhere you'd like.

I can't wait to visit again-I already have another trip planned to try their Tea Service! $47/person-I'll be sure to update and let you know if it's as great as this first visit!
And, I also would love to go back for a concert-what a great time that would be.
