My daughter and I visited the Arboretum & Gardens at her suggestion. This is a fantastic recreational activity for any age. Long meandering paths with every kind of Texas plant imaginable, beautiful vista of downtown Dallas skyline in the distance. Overlooks a large lake with sailboats. Has children's activities and a small gift shop. I'd love to come back to this place in the spring with more of the flowers are in bloom. This would be a fabulous venue for a wedding or wedding reception.

The seasons are in full bloom each year at the Arborium. There is always something special going on and added with interest. Much of the time, there are added events that prove wonderful and unexpected. And, all the food places serve great options on any budget.

The signage to find this place from the freeway is not so great, but it's worth the effort. You can get discounted admission on certain afternoons, so that's a plus. The lake views are lovely and the fern dell very peaceful. The pumpkin patch and decorations were fantastic, and the Chihuly pieces (only until Dec. 31, 2012) were fun. Someone in charge of planting really loves purple, so if you are a purple person, the fall plantings will be a hit with you.

This is not to be missed. Although I went when there was a Chihuly exhibition and that really made the Dallas Arboretum a must see, I think it is a very special place in Dallas. Great date place.
the Restaurant Golyer is a perfect place for lunch. Derrel, our server was very gracious and a delight.

My husband and I went for the Dallas blooms, I like Tulips and the dallas gardens were fulll of beautiful gardnes of tulips, roses and tons of other flowers. It was busy the day we went, people everywhere. The grounds of the garden are massive, it is very big we were there for over 5 hrs walking around enjoying the gardens. We are not from Dallas, so my only compliant was we had to pay for parking and then pay again for admission into the park. I guess it annoyed us because we are not used to paying for parking. Will definitely go back during another time of the year to see what they do to the gardens
