The installations of Dale Chihuly's glass art are fantastic. They really bring a new dimension to the Arboretum. I appreciated the docents and their assistance with photos and some comments on the sculptures.

Love this place. They have night concerts where you can bring your own food and wine and enjoy the music and the gardens. You can also bring a picnic lunch during the day. I try to avoid weekends (especially on a pretty day) because it is so hectic (tons of wedding pics) but it is still worth it even on a weekend.

After seeing the advertisements for the Chihuly Glass Art exhibit, I decide to go check it out. It was a beautiful day and the gardens themselves were wonderful. There are many water features and the views of the lake were so peaceful and relaxing with many benches to rest on and observe the surroundings. The walkways are very easy to use, although I did notice some folks having a bit of trouble getting their stroller up a stair way (no ramp at that particular spot) but they could have gotten around a little further over. There are some cute mini-cottages that bring out the kid in you and a miniature cowboy village for the kids to play in. There were families having picnics on the grounds (the grass was wonderful under foot) as you can bring food and drinks from outside. There was also a snack bar (very expensive) and some restaurants that looked very elegant. There is a gift shop, where I picked up t-shirts for the grandchildren. I spent almost three hours wandering around and plan on taking my 70 year old mother there soon. I highly recommend this attraction.

The Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is a wonderful destination for people of all ages. We survived 106 degree temperatures and managed to truly enjoy the Dale Chihuly Exhibit throughout the beautiful grounds. We started your visit with an informative screening of a video about the Arboretum and the current display. The volunteers and docents then directed us to the tram where we were treated to a tour and very interesting presentation about the history, current plantings in the garden and a preview of upcoming expansion of the gardens. Situated overlooking White Rock Lake, the Arboretum offers several themed gardens, original homes that were part of the estates which make up the grounds and restaurants which take advantage of the stunning natural beauty and horticultural efforts. As a seed testing garden facility it serves as an ideal location to learn how to use modern techniques including xeriscaping for severe drought conditions. We lingered awhile at the great Gift Shop to pick up a few mementoes of our too-brief visit. We were unable to wait for cooler weather for our trip to the gardens but I encourage anyone who can plan a visit before the Chihuly exhibit ends in early November to do so. While I am not a fan of all of his work, many of his creations are simply stunning and the Arboretum is delightful. Many trails are wheelchair accessible too!
