Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Located on the grounds of Dallas's first city park, Dallas Heritage Village is the perfect place to step back in time. You can immerse yourself in the lives of Texans during the pioneer and Victorian eras. The buildings are all part of North Texas history and give you the opportunity to see and experience nineteenth century life. As you stroll through the grounds, you'll discover how crops were grown, how animals were cared for, how family life progressed, and how the sense of community developed for ordinary Texans over 100 years ago. The Village hosts multiple family events throughout the year and visitors can participate in daily activities led by History Hosts.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Wheelchair access

SO INTERESTING! I really enjoyed my visit to this place while in Dallas. Coming from the East Coast, we don’t get a lot of Victorian or Frontier history, so this was all very interesting to see! The docents were all volunteers, but very knowledgeable, and the signs and other information telling about the homes and buildings were very informative. This is an excellently done living history museum; the only thing that might make it better would be to have docents in each house every day they’re open. Definitely take half a day and go, especially if you enjoy and appreciate American history!

Walking and looking at old houses...not my thing. If you like old buildings/stick built houses, maybe this would be good for you, however you can see much better in the Swiss Ave district.

it's good to have such old park in a busy city, but the service is poor and they close so early... if you are a tourist, you will have to go out of the city and the attractive areas just to see this average place...

This attraction was shut for the whole of August! I appreciate that it gets hot in Dallas so that may be the reason that it shuts for this month, but I can't believe that in this economy that they can afford to shut for the whole month! Quite a few fellow travellers who were also in our hotel were disappointed it was shut. Maybe unfair to give it a 'terrible', but after walking through the farmers market district (not the nicest) of Dallas, we were really disappointed not to be able to get in!

My daughters went to this place through a school field trip. We didn't even know about this place if it were not to be for the field trip. It gave them a glimpse of life a century ago. Opened their eyes in awe that how people had to live their day to day life and where we are today. We believe that this could be a good family outing for others as much as it was for us.
