My family and I have visited the African American Museum several times and have, in general, enjoyed our visits. The exhibits by African American artists are generally hit or miss, with some of them very good but others only so-so. They also sometimes have exhibits related to African American history which are very interesting.
I would say this museum is somewhat better than average, but not quite at the "very good" level. It's deserving of a rating of 3-1/2 stars, and is worth seeing if you combine it, say, with a visit to the Women's Museum which is also at Fair Park.
