White rock has become my favorite park here in Dallas. Very scenic and quiet. It's absolutely beautiful in fall. Majority of the 9 mile trail is concrete . I mostly took 2-3 mile walks. I really wish there were real restrooms and not just port-o-potties though.
It is a great place to go to chill and admire the nature! Close to downtown, White Rock Lake is the place to relax and watch birds, or run, or kayaking. My favorite saturday afternoon spot!
It’s 9.5 miles around. Takes an hour to bike depending on your setup. The views are worth it and in the spring the mornings are such a treat. The lake has been here since the 30s and it has many stewards promoting sustainability. Keep in mind after storms there will be trash, all surrounding creeks feed it and as such trash follows the water. That aside, Dallas parks and groups like For The Love of the Lake do an amazing job mobilizing clean up efforts. Do yourself a favor and go see the big catfish a the spillway. Also get out of your damn house and take a walk get a breath of fresh air.
Was in Dallas earlier this week between flights and wanted somewhere to have a walk and White Rock fitted the bill perfectly. Lovely park with good paths and even saw terrapins/snapping turtles (not sure which) in the lake. Lots of cyclists out but no problem sharing the path with them - they were all very respectful of walkers. Only downside is as an out of towner the address given on TripAdvisor was incorrect as they are doing works to the E.Lawther Drive side of the park so there is no access there - best access for parking is via Poppy Drive.
Peaceful, beautiful, relaxing and enjoyable place to get out. Lake is pretty in any season. No problems sharing pathways with bikers.
On the weekends if you want to spend some time outdoors there is lots to see and do at White Rock Lake Park. If it is pretty weather you will see there were many others that had the same idea! Always lots of people, but it is a big park, so no need to be concerned about it being crowded. It offers all of the normal city park activities with many lots around the lake to park. It too is regularly patrolled by Dallas Police, but remains a popular smash and grab for thieves while patrons bike, run and walk around the lake.
