“State Fair and Beyond”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

I have gone to the State Fair every year from many years and love it every time I go. Riding Dart to the gate is the only way to go, easy, painless and entertaining! I went in June a year ago with my sister and we had a ball, reading all the historical markers, really getting to look at the Art Deco and all the sculpture and flowers, etc.all around the grounds. We went to the Butterfly Garden which was incredible, the Hall of State was great to stroll through casually with lots of time to again, really look at all the artifacts, etc. Next we visited the Museum of Natural History-no disappointment there with the fascinating 'stuffed' animals in natural habitat. The last thing we did was eat lunch at the Old Mill Inn. Great food and prices. We are planning on returning the explore downtown Dallas again next year and will return to Fair Park to at least eat lunch there again.

“Anytime of year”
Reviewed June 18, 2014 via mobile

Fair park is awesome year round. The aquarium gets better every time we go. I have loved fair park my entire life. Even spent several days at summer adventures last year. We had a blast. Can't wait for the fair but will probably visit before then.

“Not always something to do”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

We went to this park because a lot of reviews said there was always stuff to do . Not so much. It was a Friday and there was absolutely nothing going on. There were food trucks but nothing else.
We actually didn't know if we were in the right place. I would check the calendar and make sure something is going on there before you go.

“Fair Park nightmare”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

We went to a wedding at the venue and followed the directions on this site! Boy what a mistake, the directions didn't mention that if Fair Park had a huge Concert going on that traffic off I-30 would come to a standstill. We left our Hotel in Dallas/Oaklawn area, we were not very far from venue and left one hour before wedding was to start. We got to the venue an hour and a half later. Needless to say we missed the actual wedding ceremony for one of our dear friends.
Of course we were not the only ones that missed the ceremony. There were many others.
The Bride said that when the Wedding was booked there was no mention of the huge Concert!
My gripe about this venue is that they are held hostage if ANY other large Concerts, Festivals, Etc. are taking place. Therefore hijacking what should have been a simple trip.
In 2014, via Social Media, the Venue could have sent out a warning to the parties involved that a one to two hour delay could occur! It's very sad that we sat in traffic for over an hour or so and we were less than one mile from the Wedding. Dallas police have a huge problem at hand on I-30,
Entering Fair Park area. It was so backed up onto the Freeway, that we saw incidents of road rage and at times felt concerned for our safety. To add to the problem scattered rain showers caused the roads to be slick and dangerous. I understand no one can predict weather, but proper communication and policing of the Fair Park area should be of the utmost of importance .
We will likely never go back to the Fair Park area. It is an embarrassment to Dallas.
Once we got to the venue, the venue itself was beautiful! It's just very sad Dallas can not help to find ways to correct these problems.
At the end of Wedding we learned cars had been broken into, including the Grooms vehicle.
A very sad way to end such a happy occasion.

“Great all-in-one venue”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

Just so much to see here. The discovery gardens, aquarium, science museum, even if the fair's not on there's still plenty to do. Really convenient way to spend a day!
