There is a lot to see in this museum. Collections of all kinds, covering many geographies and lots of time periods. So plan on spending a decent amount of time. Don't waste your time on the sculpture garden. The Nasher is amazing if u really want sculpture. But the Wendy & Emery Reves Collection is something else. Who knew one could collect so many hinges & latches & picture frames!!
I loved the American Paintings collection. I am growing to love more Southwest Artists so seeing some Lester, Bywaters & Dozier was great.

Thank kaelap

My wife had visited the museums several years ago for the King Tut exhibit but didn't have time to view the entire museum so she wanted to come back to view the normal galleries.

The museum is four stories tall and contains a large number of art galleries. There are American, European, Asian, African, just to name a few.

The best thing for a first time visitor is just to start on the fourth floor and work your way down through the various floors of art.

Figure about an hour per floor or more if you're planning to read all of the descriptions

Great art museum with good special exhibits. I'm also a big fan of the ancient American and Mediterranean art collections.
