Stick with Houston. Or visit the museums in Forth Worth for your art experience while visiting the DFW area.

We are members of the museum; we attend often, as there are always new exhibits and worthwhile activities.

Don't get me wrong, i do enjoy art museums but some of the drawbacks of Dallas museum is simply dealing with challenging traffic to get to the museum, then the expense and difficulty of parking. This is in an area close to major freeways that is not exactly the best neighborhood to be wandering around in. It is hard to justify expending the effort to visit the Dallas museum when you have such superior museum options in the nearby Fort Worth cultural district, including the Modern, designed by Tadao Ando, and the Kimball, designed by Louis Kahn. These in Fort worth are not only nationally renowned but they're also in very accessible locations that are easy to walk around in and very close to a revitalized urban shopping and restaurant district.

Great Museum. It is big so takes a while to get around. The permanent collection has some very good art. If you have an interest in art, it is well worth a visit. Lovely Entrance, back & front. Time well spent.

Their permanent exhibits are decent with porcelain's, antique furniture's etc., However, they usually have travelling exhibits from various continents which are very good. We visited twice once for exhibits from India and King Tut's exhibit. Check the DMA website for up to date schedules.
