“Charming”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

My husband and I went to an event at House of Blues, and decided to book a hotel in the area so we would not have to go back to Arlington late after the concert. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating as soon as we arrived. We were able to have the driver of the hotel car take us to our event which was nice. They have a late check out (1:00pm) which was nice! They also have several nice choices for dining as well as an afternoon tea. We did not eat there because although very nice, it was more than we wanted to spend on dining. Unlike many other hotels, there is 24 hr. room service available! The lobby was lovely to look at with antique furniture keeping the charm of this old hotel in tact. Our room was nice and HUGE. The bed was comfy . If you like "new" , this hotel is not for you. If you like charm, you will love it. I would suggest staying on a higher floor because we were on the 5th floor, and on a Friday night (especially at 2:00 am) there was a lot of street noise when the inebriated people were leaving the clubs . (no fault of the hotel). SO, next time, we will be staying on a higher floor. We had a delightful stay and will be back again!

Room Tip: Choose a high floor to avoid street noise

Dear Lynda,

Thank you for expressing your appreciation for The Adolphus and its staff.

Your compliments made our day, and your insight will be helpful to other travelers.

We do, indeed, have Texas-size guest rooms and suites, with charm to spare! As you have read in other reviews, our beds receive high praise for their luxury and comfort.

All of us at The Adolphus look forward to your return.

Warmest regards,

David

As usual, everything about our stay at the Adolphus was wonderful.
From the arrival, through the checkout, everyone was welcoming and very helpful.
We went to a musical that evening and after coming back, we relaxed in the beautiful lobby.

The location of the hotel was excellent with plenty of dining locations within walking distance. The Hotel was classy, clean and comfortable with a very helpful professional staff. I really enjoyed the feeling of the Hotel. Old but fresh but class comes to mind. Enoyed the stay and will definetly stay their again. Newer Hotels are nice but they don't have the comfortable classy feeling as I got staying at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas.

Room Tip: My room was on the 8th floor and it was very quiet.

We were pleased to get a very low price on a third-party site, more than 2/3rds off. When we opened the door to our room, instead of finding a tiny room sometimes saved for such purchases at other hotels, our "room" was a spacious and comfortable suite, the best such room we have ever had. The hotel is beautifully appointed, ornate, and literally "fit for a queen," since the Queen of England had stayed here. They must have the best French restaurant in the city, and the others, including the Bistro, are excellent. The concierge offered the hotel car for our use, at no charge. The hotel is in walking distance of the arts area and Dealey Plaza, which we visited. We recommend it highly.

Dear Paul,

You are most kind to highlight our many attributes, including the hotel's beauty and comfort.

We were chosen by Buckingham Palace to host The Queen and The Duke - and other members of the British Royal Family - because we represent the best of Texas. They are gracious and kind themselves, and they appreciate this quality in others. Contrary to what you may have seen in the movies, royalty abhors snobbery and affectation. They also appreciate the humor in mishaps and misadventures. They would be the last to complain or find fault with anyone, regardless of the situation. We should all have such beautiful manners.

Thank you for writing a review.

With kindest regards,

David

Such a charming place-- but then I like grand old hotels with history. The rooms are very comfortable, but the lobby is the best part. I've taken a book to read just to sit and absorb the atmosphere.....love the live piano, palm trees, some time bass, comfortable sitting areas, and all the paneling. The service is excellent.

The new ownership at the Adolphus are facing quite a challange. How do they accomplish a necessary renovation without destroying the ambiance and mystiique of a place that is truly fit for a King (or Queen)? The present state of the place is worn; but, not shabby; with old time luxury and comfort. The French Room is a true five diamond/star/fork dining place. Something far more than a restraunt.
We stayed there for the second time; this time for our wedding anniversary. A few superlatives that fit are lovely and charming. It's way more that just an old hotel.

Room Tip: Spend the bucks. Get a suite.
