Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!

Review of The Joule
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 26, 2014
I had the pleasure of staying at the Joule for a business meeting that was held in the ballroom area of the hotel. The entire experience was extraordinary. From the staff at the front desk to the amenities in the room, it was truly an enjoyable experience. After arriving to the hotel the afternoon prior to our meetings, a few of us decided to have drinks up at the bar by the pool the night we got there and the bartender was professional and very attentive to us the entire time we were up there. The room itself was remarkably comfortable and certainly one of the highest-tech experiences I've personally had at a hotel with the lighting system alone. A very convenient feature to make the stay a little more comfortable, for sure. The Bose Wave stereo and Uverse-connected tv were nice touches, as well. Suffice it to say, you will not find anything in the room that is anything other than top-notch. The hotel staff was also very attentive to us the following morning during our pre-meeting breakfast up in the conservatory. I would highly recommend this if you're having a larger business meeting either at the hotel or in the immediate area. What a wonderful and unique experience! Needless to say, our meetings went extremely well thanks to the kind and supportive staff at the Joule. I'm now hoping to go back and book a weekend to sit back, relax, and truly enjoy the Joule. I barely scratched the surface of how amazing this place really is - if you're coming to Dallas and it's in the budget, stay at the Joule. You won't regret it.

I stayed at The Joule on business for 4 days in October. This hotel is BEYOND impressive, to the point where I can say with confidence I haven't stayed at a better one even back home in New York. Management here seem to gave gotten the message about little details mattering, to make your life a bit easier. I hate when you get to the hotel and have to immediately call down to ask for everything that's missing.

I had a standard room, $239 a night. It was stylish, spacious, and everything is brand spanking new without being overpoweringly modern. Again, you don't have to ask for extras. The room had:

- Complementary wi-fi in the room and throughout hotel
- Welcome chocolate
- Great snack and drink choices at mini bar
- Complementary shoe service
- Plush bath robes
- Easy AC adjustment (I hate that complicated crap they sometimes have at hotels)
- Larger shampoo and conditioner containers
- Magazines, books, huge TV
- Ironing board, hair dryer, basic toiletries
- 24 hour gym
- And my personal favorite: ample power plug receptacles WHERE YOU NEED THEM.

My pet peeve is having to crawl under the damn bed to find a place to plug my charger into. This one had plenty of them right by the bed site, on top of the desks, and in the bathrooms.

The sheets were not stiff either, but very soft and plush, and the beds super comfy.

The lobby is a work of art, and you have a great restaurant on site, along with an upscale coffee shop, and two really cool bars with professional mixologists making crazy good cocktails.

Let's not forget the upstairs pool...just look up the images online, and all will be clear.

I could not find a single thing wrong with this hotel, and made my first visit to Dallas amazing. You are completely catered to, from entrance to exit.

Highly, highly recommended.

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in a while. It is in the downtown area where there appear to be a lot of restaurants and entertainment like facilities. The lobby area is long and narrow with some very elaborate statuary and moving art. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Wifi was free.
The room was really unique. It wasn't terribly large but had high ceilings which made it feel larger. It was decorated in a darker style of wall color and furniture. The walls of the bathroom and closet area was a translucent glass with a curtain on the bed side of the bathroom/closet. The same translucent glass was in the shower door and commode areas. The flooring was a unique tile and was carried onto the walls in the huge shower. The shower had either a rain head or an adjustable hand holdable shower head. The bathroom sink was a raised glass like bowl which developed water stains quickly. There was a large lighted mirror at an angle beside the sink. The hair dryer was behind a door below the sink (not very obvious). They had exceptional toiletries and very nice linens in the room. There was a safe in the room, but no coffee maker that I saw. I found the bed to be much too soft for my tastes.

The Fitness Center fit with the remainder of the hotel. Very elegant with a modest amount of treadmills, ellipticals and such, but a lot of weight equipment.

We live in Dallas but wanted a little staycation. From the time we checked in to the time we left, everything was perfect. The staff was super friendly and the room was incredible. It was huge and modern and comfortable. Definitely the best hotel shower I've ever been in. We can't wait to get back...and next time we'll stay for more than one night.

Room tip: We upgraded to a premium king room and it was worth it!

I am a frequent business traveler and have had more room service dinners than I care to remember but this one was remarkable. The food was absolutely spectacular. Even the mini-bar food was amazing - instead of the usual fare, they had a group of Texas specialty gourmet products, such as spiced pecans, chips and salsa, organic bars. I also went to Weekend, the coffee shop in the building in the morning and had a warmed biscuit that was unbelievably delicious. I do not normally write reviews all about food, but this was worth going back for! My room decor was a bit far-out for me - zebra rug in my room, round bed - but I understand all the rooms are different. The bathroom was large, with great products, and everything was spotless. I would definitely go back.

This was a work trip stay. The normal stay is at the Zaza which is on the outskirts of downtown Dallas. A co-worker suggested this place as their go-to for convenience to the office. The hotel is not super high-end but has lots of great features.

Unfortunately, got a corner room (1806) which was nice since you needed your key in the elevator for 18th Floor access, however, the room was one with a round bed. The room was incredibly small with a partition in the middle to separate the bath area from the bedroom area. Odd. The mirror wasn't over the sink but off to the right which was frustrating. How are you supposed to shave using the mirror and sink at the same time?

The shower was big with two different shower heads (overhead rain and regular shower) which can be used together or separate. The toilet was its own separate space with door.

The bed was comfy. It was cold in Dallas and its placement between two windows was drafty. The lighting is all touchpad which was very cool. TV was huge flat screen. No in-room movies. Room service was good, quick service and courteous.

My preference is still the Zaza but the Joule is super convenient for downtown. Didn't get to sneak a peek at the pool which I hear is pretty (10th Floor) since it was late and off-season.
