Our family booked through VBRO for a beach home - TurnKey as the property Manager- in Crystal Beach, Bolivar Peninsula, TX for Memorial weekend 2017 and what started out great, abruptly ended in a disaster. We had reserved this nice home that sleeps 12. We had three couples, all together with 6 kids...responsible families, no loud music, not anything crazy at all. We had just cooked dinner and had another family stop by (another couple and their baby); we were all sitting on the porch just talking, nothing at all...that's where it ABRUPTLY ended.
At that point (8:30pm) we looked up and a TURNKEY representative walked up from down the street. He then said we had more guests then allowed. We were allowed 12 guests and any given time- day or night. Our friends that stopped by for maybe 45min... put us over our limit. We immediately asked our guests to leave, which was insane.... We were also allowed 3 vehicles, we had rented 2 golf carts and had 2 rangers to get to and from the beach... those were also counted as vehicles & were not allowed. We were willing to move vehicles to a friends place down the street. We were willing to do whatever not to let this end or ruin the rest of the weekend. We were told we had to GO! Our kids were scared and had no clue what was happening. We had paid for a 3 night stay/non refundable & were able to stay 1 night. We all had to drive 2 hours on the dangerous road at night with kids and not to mention the possibility of drunk drivers. My baby was asleep in the bed and we had to jerk her up. This was the most INSANE thing we had ever seen!! We were all mature adults, 6 adults, 6 kids between all 3 families, nothing was out of place or out of control---- this was terrible!!!!
Never again will we book this property or through TURNKEY. Please read the find print & beware!!!
We rented this home at Crystal Beach for Memorial weekend. Three families, two adults and two children each. We brought four vehicles and golf carts. We are all in our 40's with children 7 years old and under. We cooked dinner early Saturday evening and invited an additional family who are property owners in a neighboring addition. At 7:45 that evening a turnkey representative showed up and told us we were in violation of our occupancy and must vacate the premise immediately. No warning, no questions. There was no music, no loud shenanigans, just three respectable families enjoying a vacation with their children. This was VRBO listing #1036253. We had to pack up and get on the highway with our small children at 10:30pm and drive 2 hours home!! The management at turnkey and the owners of this home ruined these children's vacation and put us in danger by evicting is at that time of the night. I have rented 15 homes at crystal beach in the last 12 years, most of which were way nicer than this, and never have I been accused of violating policy. I damn sure have never been evicted.
Our group consisted of 3 couples, with two children each. This adds up to the "Sleeps 12" in the description. Our stay was abruptly interrupted when TurnKey, who manages the property, sent a representative to the cabin at 8:30 p.m. on the second night of our 3 night booking. With no other warning, we were told we had to PACK UP and leave immediately for violating the terms of our contract. It states in the description that we are allowed 3 vehicles...what it didn't tell you was that golf carts count as vehicles. Each family brought/rented one to get our things down to the beach. We also had another couple (who own their own beach house) and their baby over visiting on the porch. This put us over the maximum which they THEN told us was for day or night. The representative told us the owner had been watching us on cameras and wanted us out. That was creepy and we could not understand how sitting and visiting on a porch would make someone want to kick out three families.
We embarrassingly asked our guests to leave and offered to move the golf carts to get us down to the correct number of "vehicles." After pleading with the representative that was present and a supervisor over the phone, they told us it was too late and that we had to vacate. We had to pack up everything, and leave like criminals at what was then 10:00 at night on a two hour journey home with all our children, most under 6. This was a shocking and humiliating experience for us all. Our children were confused and upset as we set out on the road, exhausted and concerned about intoxicated drivers who might be out on a holiday weekend. We received NO other explanation and had to forfeit all the money for the rest of our trip.
