Our waiter was the best of our experience at this restaurant. The food was okay. Not something to "write home about". The mysterious orange dip was ok, but would prefer salsa instead of orange, paparika flavored mayo. I had fajita chicken nachos which were the waiter's favorite. I wasn't too impressed, but I think I had the best food. My daughter had the child's shrimp plate with fries. I could have pulled a frozen dinner out of the freezer for her and it taste the same or better. My friend had a taco salad which has melted, shredded cheddar cheese on top which welted the lettuce. Not too appetizing. She expected a nice, crisp salad. Wasn't what she received. Wouldn't probably return even though it was recommended by a local patron who frequents this establishment often.

“O M I is a favorite”

Great Tex-Mex and wonderful orange dip. I always go thru two bowls of it. Have to remember not to fill up on chips, dip, and salsa before dinner. I really like the chicken enchiladas the best. They are made like no one elses, anywhere. You will see chicken, sauteed onions, and all kinds of stuff inside. Not just dry chicken or yellow cheese like some others. The beef and the chicken fajitas are good as well. Grilled just right, and plenty of it. They have a couple of dinner plates that are spectacular and cover it all ( taco, chalupa, enchilada, tamale) but they are a lot of food. Food comes out fast, no matter how busy they are. We will drive about 40 mins to get to OMI two or three times a month and its worth it. You do have to go early, or expect to wait during 'prime dinner time' on a lot of nights. They have bought a lot next door and now there is a lot of parking but still, the restaurant can only hold so many at a time. I wish they would enclose the area out front for sitting or waiting out of the weather on busy nites, but what the heck. It does not affect the decision to go or not. We just try to go before 6:30.

“This place has stood the test of time”

Old Mexican Inn has consistently good food and friendly service. Love their famous orange dip and margaritas are very good. Their recipes for the orange dip on the web but none I've found actually hit the spot.

Worth the detour from IH 45 as well. Phillip has managed here for years. Food will be HOT and always good. Small quaint bar with six stools.
